Many EU countries house heavy US military presence, their existence after WW2 is owed to US Loans. The US has tremendous leverage over these countries in key Foreign Policy decisions.

1.karbala 5 was not only offensive. many parts liberated.
2.khomeini had no military knowledge so the commanders are in charge in this operation. prolonged because former resolutions did not accepted saddam as starter.
3.saddam used chemicals from the winter of 1980 not only in this operation.
