Whose manufacturing the other 2% percent and is it possible that the other 2% is a critical component in electrical equipment.

Yes,it was 2 years ago when Iran celebrated providing all villages and rural areas with electricity 24/7.

I seen blackout in Tehran while I was there in 2007. Also gas rationing. There were hardly any civilian aircraft. In Khomeni airport I only seen 3 aircraft landed in the whole day I was there. You need a whole sack to keep Rial after converting dollar. 1/2 the people are extremely polite and the rest half are extreme rude. Kebabs and Faluda which I heard a lot about were the worst in in Iran. They taste stupid. But I liked the baked tomatoes and onions served with the food. I hated the big bread served in the morning. They are so hard, you may break your teeth. But tea is good specially you got to put sugar cube in your mouth before sipping the tea. Thats weird.. LOL

Girls are cute and very sweet.. ;-)
Most people offered me food and asked me to go to their home. Very unusual yet very sweet.

why bloody 2% left make them too. Congrts.

That what I'm asking I'm thinking this 2% Iran is incapable of manufacturing for x reason possibly because Iran doesn't have the machinery to make the other 2%.

Otherwise they would make 100%

Self-sufficient is not 96%, or 98%, self-sufficient is 100%.

Until few years ago,he were seeing some blackouts in major cities, like Tehran because of high electricity usage. But from 2008 to know,we barely have seen blackouts, except in heavy storm, raining times.

I don't think it's the right thing to say 50% of people are extremely polite and the rest half are extremely rude. There are many people who don't belong to these 2 categories, people who are not extremly polite and are not rude either.Maybe you should have stayed more to become used to it,maybe some of things that people do are considered polite in here, but rude in other countries because of different cultures.
About the Kebabs,I don't think you've gone to proper restaurants.Kebabs in Iran are best, after all they originated here, but like every other country, there is good quality or bad quality.
AND ABOUT THE PLANES,YOU KNOW Iran is under heavy sanctions and can not buy civilians aircraft (maybe it uses them to make nuclear weapons!).The moment these sanctions are lifted, you can be sure Iran will buy hundreds of new planes.

That's because there remaining 2% need very high technology and Iran has not achieved them yet,but I'm sure they will be produced very soon.
Yes that's not called self sufficient, but I think it's the best among many Asian countries. We have to produce them ourselves because at every moment,a western country may stop selling them to us and that could paralyze the electricity production.Usually, countries who are not under sanctions,do not feel the need to produce everything, and that's the right thing.Even U.S do this.If Iran was not under sanctions,we wouldn't have producing almost everything ourselves.

The current Iranian government has made more achievements and progress than any other Iranian Govemment in past hundred years.

Iran's electricity production capacity is higher than any other Muslim majority country as well, despite all the sanctions and embargos. If GCC united to form one country, then GCC electricity production capacity would be higher, but American stooges can not unite without permission from Washington DC, and unlike Iran, they do not have a large pool of native scientists, researchers, technicians and strong domestic industry.

Iran also invests in Armenian factories that convert Iranian gas to electricity which Armenia then sends back to Iran through Iran's sophisticated (and troublesome) electrical grid system and to some areas in north Iran.

Iran has plenty of energy it’s amazing. Iran energy consumption per captia is 4 times the world average. Iranians need to become more efficient in their usage. A lot of the energy goes to waste.

I agree with that. After the subsidies were cut in Iran,it has been much better, but we still need to be very more efficient. That could be hell of a boost for economy if only we could became much more efficient.Having lots of natural resources has some down sides, this is one of them.
