Iran is developing ballistic missiles that could strike EUROPE, warns America’s secretary of state Mike Pompeo

16th January 2019, 1:56 pm

The missile used by Iran to launch satellites is identical to one that can carry nukes, he said

IRAN is developing missiles capable of carrying nuclear weapons to hit Europe, US Defence Secretary Mike Pompeo has said.

His comments came as Iran plans to launch two satellites on rockets which America and its allies say could be used as weapons.

The Iranian Simorgh rocket, which Mike Pompeo said was 'identical' to one capable of carrying nukes

In a tweet he said yesterday’s launch of a satellite was in “defiance of the international community” as wells a UN Security Council resolution aimed at limiting Iran’s nuclear programme.

“The launch yet again shows that Iran is pursuing enhanced missile capabilities that threaten Europe and the Middle East,” said Pompeo.

In a statement, the Defence Secretary said the Iranian’s satellite missile was "virtually identical and interchangeable with those used in ballistic missiles, including intercontinental ballistic missiles".

The launch didn’t, however, quite go to plan when the Simorgh rocket carrying the Payam satellite failed to reach the "necessary speed" in the third stage of its launch.

"Iran is pursuing enhanced missile capabilities that threaten Europe and the Middle East" - Mike Pompeo

He said the U.S. is working with its partners "to counter the entire range of the Islamic Republic's threats, including its missile program, which threatens Europe and the Middle East."

In May 2018, Donald Trump pulled the US out of a deal which eased sanctions on Iran in return for it agreeing to end its nuclear weapons programme.

Recent satellite imagery appears to back the claim the claim Iran may be developing long-range ballistic missiles capable of hitting Europe at a secret base.

US-based weapons researchers made the discovery by watching an Iranian TV show about the regime’s former nuke scientist Hassan Tehrani Moghaddam.

Moghaddam died in 2011 when the missile base which he built was destroyed in an explosion.

However, what the programme unwittingly revealed was that the military scientist developed another desert facility which is operating today.

Located in Shahrud, northern Iran, the base is around 40 kilometres away from the town of the same name, claim the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey, California.

Are these moron for real , Mr. Tehrani Moqaddam knows about nukes as much as your average urban moms taking their children to kindergarten.
he was a missile scientist not a Nuclear scientist .

Total BS, "The missile used by Iran to launch satellites is identical to one that can carry nukes, he said" --> where did he say this?

If he truly said this he's even more stupid than we thought, no country has ever converted space SLVs to ICBMs! they use totally different propulsion different 'payload' different everything!

Iran can already build ICBMs if it wants, and existing missiles can already strike Europe, but it purposely doesn't build BMs with a range >2000km because why would it need to strike Europe? Jeddah is furthest part of KSA from Iran, and that is 2000km from Tehran (1500km from Iran's coast)! US bases across the region are within 500-1000km, and Israel is 1300-1800km from Iran

US just fearmongers about Iranian missiles being able to reach Europe to make missiles a concern for Europe as well as the US, but Iran's missiles are not aimed at Europe so Europe doesn't care

First of all Iran missile tests are not in defiance of any international or resolutions if they are then why do you wanna add them to the deal through renegotiation?

Secondly the US is the one that has violated the UNSCR by:
1. Withdrawal from the JCPOA.
2. Reimposing sanctions removed by 2231.
3. Going around the world bullying countries to violate 2231 otherwise they would be punished.
And it all happens while the US is a permanent member with veto right.

On the other hand,

Among those equitable principles that international tribunals have applied is the concept that a claimant's claims may be barred due to its illegal conduct in relation to the claims he brings. This concept is known as the “clean hands doctrine."
As far:

On nuke commitments: IAEA has now confirmed Iran’s compliance 13 times. Iran committed no technical infringements in 2018. In fact, IAEA officials told @CrisisGroup that over past year Iran has actually enhanced cooperation - likely to avoid giving US smallest pretext.
Then the US is the one violated international law & UNSCR and can not blame or accuse Iran for it.

Beside & by all due respect the US,France & isles could put a sock in it:

I see a pattern like this before by these Americans

First Iran’s nuclear programme. Was there victim. Dismantled

Now it’s the turn of the missiles.

. .
Well, something the leader + IRGC will never allow, never and ever..missiles are Irans life assurance...

They did give up your nuclear programme. Same people you are now claiming are the defenders of your missile programme.

they didn't give up anything! they put some centrifuges in storage but they can easily bring them and put them online again! we can return to 20% enrichment within a few days!

only arak they gave up permanently because they poured concrete into the core of the reactor, and even that a separate building can be built in months to recover spent plutonium if iran really wanted nukes

R&D has continued, Iran newer centrifuges has got 10 time more capacity in comparison to 1st generation the other on 20 times ... We didn't give up our program we've just bought time to develop it without sanctions ...
