Iran attempted missile launch from submarine, US officials say

. .
Can launch it from the torpedo tubes.

There are some technical questions i need to know.

What was the missile type and range?
How many missiles they can carry in such small submarine?
How they will balance the weight of missiles ? because the ratio of the missile weight and sub weight is quite high as compared to other cruise missile capable subs like Agosta 90b

Good Job Iran ???

they can be fitted, for example, with this one:

range over 100km

imagine 10-20 ghadir subs waiting on the ground of the persian gulf, without noise, everyone equipped with 2-4 Nasir cruise missiles....

zionists stand no chance in the persian gulf

but they are not stupid, in war they will vanish from this area

irgc must have the capabilities to hit them outside persian gulf, you must have the capabilities to make sure they are also not save in gulf of oman, gulf of aden and part of indian ocean..

saying some weapon has failed is a psychological tactic to force the enemy to reveal some information about it. in fact it shows how desperate they are.

Iranian defense minister said our previous missile launch was successful, the one which american liars said has failed during reentry phase.

We Pakistanis know all about it. Our enemies resort to such tactics. First stage is denial. Second stage is reality starts sinking in. Last stage is we got it on silver platter from China. LMAO

This is good for Iran. Every country has the right to defend its borders from aggression. Having such a capability will make the enemy think twice before resorting to any misadventure.

I'm confuse, why the hell would they launch it into the water and then ejected into the air? Is it a torpedo or anti ship missile?

It is a missile but acts as a torpedo in its first phase. I think that clip shows the first phase test, proving the concept. The missile is launched from the torpedo tubes of the fast attack boat in a more controlled environment. As soon as it is inside the water, it goes through the same process as if it was launched by a submarine.

What US navy witnessed could be test of more advanced versions that were directly launched from a submarine.

how its possible to launch cruise missile from midget submarines?
It has a booster that works under water and increases its speed to the point that it can jump out of the water. As soon as it is out of the water, the missile's engine starts.

If its successful, Job well done. Else, try, try, try again. In the modern day war, nothing is more important than the missile technology.

Are you an eye-witness to the test in question? If yes, then provide evidence of its success. If no, then accusing others of lying is a sign of insecurity.

Failures can be expected in trials. Don't be sensitive about it. On the bright side, you learned something from it.

Americans have fielded an incredibly vast and comprehensive surveillance system around the world through which they can observe important developments in regions of interest. Expect them to disclose developments that normal people are not privy of.

Iran already has launched cruise missiles from Submarines, besat class to be exact.

Most likely this is a recent test and the U.S. was watching.
I suspect this was done so the firing could be recorded, the launch vessel is actually a semi submersible torpedo boat and would likely fire this weapon when submerged tho like all torpedoes it can also be launched from the surface. As for the weapon in question it appears to be a torpedo that uses a rocket booster to fly it quite some distance out before delivering it to within proximity of its target, its probably either something like a russian ss-n-15/16[rpk-2/6/7] or an iranian equivalent. The us had the very similar asroc and subroc and currently have the rum139 vl-asroc in service.

AHHhh..The same way you would launch them from a large submarine...
It depends on the size of the missile and the torpedo tubes but assuming they are the right size then you would launch the cruise missile [either land attack or antiship] in a buoyant capsule, this would be weighted so that the nose would broach the surface first at an angle, then the missile would be ejected by either a cold launch or its own booster or a combo of both depending on the type of weapon ie rocket or jet powered...and thats pretty much how you launch a cruise missile from a torpedo tube.

Assuming this new test is of the same missile in the older clip we've been discussing, it could be that is similar in concept to the Soviet RPK-series of missiles.

These missiles were (for the most part), built around a torpedo with a solid-fuel rocket motor for boost propulsion. They could be launched from surface vessels or submarines. Because they were designed to be fired from torpedo tubes, if launched from a surface vessel, they had to be launched into the water first before the boost motor would fire. They would either deliver a torpedo once the motor was spent or a depth charge, all depending on variant.

The RPKs are often compared to some American rocket-powered torpedo-based designs but the RPKs were more refined and more missile-like in design (aka with more proper guidance mechanisms, faster speeds achieved).

Russia today sells a more modern design based on a similar concept, a member of the Klub-family of weapons, the 91RTE1/2.
