Iran Army Chief arrives in Ankara to meet with senior political, military officials

TEHRAN, Aug. 15 (MNA) – Iranian Army Chief Maj. Gen. Bagheri arrived at Ankara Airport on Tuesday morning, heading a high-ranking military-political delegation.
During his three-day visit to Turkey, Major General Mohammad Bagheri, Chief of Staff of Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, will hold talks with top-ranking political and military authorities of Turkey, including President Recep Tayyip, the head of General Staff of the Turkish Armed Forces, Turkish Minister of National Defense Fikri Işık and other senior authorities.

Deputy Foreign Minister for Asia and Oceania Affairs Ebrahim Rahimpour, chief of IRGC's Ground Forces Mohammad Khakpour, Deputy Chief of Iranian Armed Forces Brigadier General Gholam Reza Mehrabi, Deputy Minister of Defense for Education and Research of the Armed Forces Mohammed Hassan Bagheri, and some others accompany General Bagheri in the visit to Turkey.

I wonder if Turks wanted to have a huge U turn in their policy.

Syria will be the main issue for discussion and maybe Turkey's stance in NATO. I am curious, Turkey is not in a good situation.

Iranian Head of Chiefs of Staff of Armed Forces Visits Turkish Counterpart

Following an invitation by the Turkish Chief of the General Staff, Hulusi Akar, Mohammad Bagheri arrived in Turkey today.

Most media outlets have outlined the visit as one of cooperation and communication about issues in Syria, Iraq and Kurdistan. But judging by the fact that Bagheri is the Head of Chiefs of Staff, not a more political position like FM, President or even DM, I think discussions on Syria can be ruled out.

I think it is mostly about Kurdish separatism, since General Pakpour commander of IRGC Ground Force has accompanied Bagheri.

IRGC GF is in charge of security in Kurdish areas and also according to General Bagheri fighting terrorism and border security are two of the main agendas.
