The Iranian defence was superb which is not a surprise as they already showed that in the Spain game. However up front its a different story unfortunately and Portugal was at the end of the day the better team (despite all the acting and moaning).

Iran needs attackers and playmakers. You can’t win games just by sitting back and playing defense all day.

Iran has 80 million population and Portgual has 10.5 million. Surely Iran can find two professional level young footballers that specialize in attack.

Nonetheless, Iran did earn some respect among the football world for its tough play.

But Iran could not finish plays. Either errant passes or bad shots on goals destroyed scoring opps. The prime example of this was Mehdi’s today in the last minutes of the game. A bit of errant pass but he had open shot in front of goal and didn’t capitalize.

That is the difference between a team like Portgual or Spain vs a team like Iran.

Iran needs to find some offense by World Cup 2022 or it will be the same story.

Iran played very well. Many congratulations!!!
However very disappointed performance by referee on both penalties.... the new review system should be improved and fair... the whole match was like moaning and crying to daddy (refree) and daddy was trying to be best father in the world . I never seen such a retarded behaviour...
Overall both Morroco and Iran was impressive
