Invigilators strip two Dalit girls in exam hall

In a shocking incident, two teenage Dalit girls were humiliated and stripped by women invigilators in front of 40 boys during a class X State board examination in Madhya Pradesh's Narsinghpur district.

The girls, both aged 15 and appearing for their first board exams, were made to undergo the humiliation during an inspection on cheating on March 15 at the government higher secondary school in Barhebara village.

Invigilators Preeti Sharma and Reshma Semaiya, acting on the suspicion that the girls were hiding pieces of paper to cheat during their mathematics exam, asked them to strip. When the girls refused, the invigilator duo themselves reportedly stripped the two girls in the presence of the boys and some other girl students.

Nothing, however, was found on the girls to prove the charge.

Out of shame, the girls did not inform anyone about the incident until Friday, when they broke down before their parents, who complained to the district administration.

Im bitterly disappointed and saddened that this type of activity is taking place - in modern India - i am hoping this is a rare occurrence and these women invigilators are NEVER allowed to humiliate poor innocence like this

If you think anyone revels and finds comfort in hearing such disgraceful news then you are with respect of a perverted mind and should be ashamed of yourself. Sad incident and as previously said lets hope its not widespread behavior.

It would be relevant if those female inviligators had refused to touch those kids because they were dalit.. or denied them permission to sit with others because they are dalit... but flaunting the dalit card for every damn thing is ridiculous. I as the OP haven't based this on this word "dalit" - i have attempted to point out 2 girls (innocent of any wrong doing) were put through a traumatic experience where these girls were stripped and humiliated - lets just hope its a one off and these women are taken out of positions of this type of responsibility...
