My eyes moisten at the incredible compassion and sympathy our Dalits receive from our incredible friends to our west..

These two girls should have instinct guts to slap these invigilators. Unfortunately many accidents in both India and Pakistan, our people are weak and passives what the Master order us to do.

. .
Its nothing like that. Those figures are from a book published in 2006, which in turn uses data from an NGO Survey(conducted by Action Aid and funded by Christian Aid:rolleyes:) from the year 2000.

Most of the Indians here were kids 12 years ago. I was a 13 year old teenager myself. Secondly, hardly anyone here is from a rural area so they have never seen anything as such.

Coming back to discrimination, I won't say it doesn't exist, but it has certainly gone down and with more and more people getting education, it will decrease even further.

The only sign of any discrimiation that I have seen when I go to my village is that people from "lower" castes won't sit on the same level as me, even if I insist them to sit on the same "charpai" or a chair next to me. But something like that is not limited to India, its the same in Pakistan too, anyone denying it will be lying to himself.

tl;dr Caste based discrimination exists but not to the extent its made out to be. It has gone down from what it was 10, 20, 30 years ago and it will go further down, education and urbanization is the key here. Such discrimination doesn't exist in Urban areas at all.

The survey mentioned is outdated and the findings over hyped (i mean look at the funding source!).

Nice try, you gotta get up pretty early to pull this one off !!

The survey covers 11 states and 540 villages. Certainly very relavant today. Life in the rural India has not changed much.

There is no need to be ashamed about the Dalit India. These guys are just trying to live to the next day.

I dont think they were stripped naked. But still it is humiliating and such idiotic, cruel teachers should be punished to make a lesson out of them. Though caste is clearly not the motive for doing it, rural dalits who may have lower self esteem , don't deserve this.

There are always 2 sides to a story. As far as I know the invigilators(belonging to the ant-cheating squad like the women under question) are like Police profilers..and can detect cheaters from far away. What if the girls were really cheating and is using the Dalit and stripping card to gain sympathy?

Even if they were cheating as you have claimed, is it justified to strip two young girls naked infront of the 40 other students? can't they be taken to other empty room ??

Disgusting to even think they were playing dalit card to the least...

is it considered a sin in india to be from minority group?

I am still waiting for a clearer picture to emerge. I cannot believe that they were asked to remove their clothes, that too by women.

How do you explain the article..was it necessary to mention the word 'Dalit'.

is it considered a sin in india to be from minority group?

Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam (Father of our missiles), Dr. Homi Baba (Father of our Nukes), Gen Arora, Gen. Manekshaw (Architects of our 1971 war with Pakistan) doesn't think so.

I think it was, as it highlights the plight of dalits subjects in india.

I can't belive it either, lets wait for the clear picture, only a sick minded in a state of apathy can do these sort of absolute disgusting act, was it hard for those teachers to comprehend the fact that they were 40 other students in the class ??

Oh Please... as if the Girls had the word 'Dalit' inscribed on their forehead and there is no mention of the caste of the invigilators.

The word 'stripping is the problem. Is it used deliberately by the journos or was it a faux pas remains to be determined.
