What's new

International community united against North Korea as UNSC approves harshest sanctions in decades.

It doesn't makes much difference.

Just look at the difference between SK and NK; it's like comparing day with night.

dprk ( north korea ) is easily more developed and civilized than pakistan or any other country in south asia, so please be wise with your pronouncements. :)

or are you a tableegh jamaati who wants to please the white house by discrediting a socialist country??

no one knows NK better than us Chinese```the Kim family deserves all the punishment

really??

north korea provides to its citizens free or almost free facilities like housing, electricity, water, public transportation, medical system and education... how about china?? :)

do you find north korean citizens selling their kidneys just so that they can buy some nonsense cell phone??

is pyongyang one of the world's most polluted cities or is it beijing??

why are you insulting those chinese soldiers who fought in the korea war alongside those of ussr in support of north korea??

what is your opinion on the libyan jamahiriya, syria, cuba, venezuela and ussr??

It's not LIKE comparing day and night. It is Day and Night.:agree:
One is an advanced capitalistic ultra developed free market economy/country while the other is a poor backward third world country who cant even feed it's people and is only going backward with each passing year.

so south korea having more cell phones, 170-inch 30k tv's and more silly personal cars makes south korea a advanced country??

in fact every country should discard personal cars and adopt public transport, and i don't see any great benefit of the duplex-talk wireless cell phone.

as for free market economy and capitalism, though i have already given the problems that britain and usa have ( and which you have seen and pretended to not understand :) ) i will present india as example of how "free" market and capitalism bring oppression, injustice and depravity to society.

300,000 indian farmers suicided between 1995 and 2015 and 250,000 indians suicided just in 2012 ( in syria that many syrians were killed by nato-supported foreigner terrorists in five years of a international war ) and there 70+ million indians homeless, and many dying of simple hunger, and lots more problems.

in all this, the wastrel indian industrialist, mukesh ambani, built the world's most expensive house - a book-case-shaped 27-storey house in bombay and which probably is the ugliest building in the world, and one south indian politician donated a six million dollar diamond-studded gold crown to a temple, and the indian government/military has been consistently the biggest importer of military systems in the world and most recently has the program to spend 65,000 crore rupees ( nine billion dollars ) for buying french fighter planes... i can quote many such examples.

what do you think the progressive students of the 'jawaharlal university' ( jnu ) in delhi are agitating for?? what do you think their supporters all over india are agitating for??

capitalism is filth, is haraam and must be eradicated for humans to have a harmonious life... how can there be any two opinions about this??

you should really be calling for uno sanctions against the bjp party that runs the present indian central government, on charges of fascism, rioteering, associating with terrorist groups ( like rss ), suppression of progressive dissent, helping assassins of progressives, jailing of progressives etc... india is now in a indian spring.

They should be happy that they aren't getting nuked at.

dprk lost four million citizens in the korea war... what is your lust for their blood and intestines and cut-off heads??

At least this is the begining of the sanction to end NK's motives. No one likes a dictator that wants to dictate the world.

so why are you being slavish to obomba?? :)

There has to be bloodshed to produce peace. NK and SK have to settle this one day or another. Thank god, Vietnam didn't have this situation.

there you go again with your blood-lust.

The sanctions will do nothing because they are predicated on the idea that the government of North Korea cares about it's people. It doesn't, it would let them all starve but the party's leadership and those it deems necessary, and it doesn’t need anything it can't already get from those states willing to defy any sanctions and sell to them. We didn't want them to have nuclear weapons and yet...

if every usa government after 1945 cared about its own people it wouldn't have spent hundreds of billions of dollars every year on building and maintaining weapons but instead would have provided free houses to its own citizens first along with other necessary human right facilities... in usa there are so many homeless people yet usa government and its genocidal military go about invading and regime-changing countries where facilities are either free or subsidized or low-costing.

NK is one of the least productive countries in the world at present. People are starving there.

and what do you mean by "least productive"?? :)

even the biased wikipedia entry for 'north korea' says this nice thing :
The agricultural sector was shattered by the natural disasters of the 1990s. Its 3,500 cooperatives and state farms] were among the most productive and successful in the world around 1980 but now experience chronic fertilizer and equipment shortages.

You need to get your facts straight.

Pakistan is doing much better then North Korea in most areas.

GDP of Pakistan (2015) = 240 billion USD (40th position)
GDP of North Korea (2015) = 17.40 billion USD

and what do you mean by "least productive"?? :)

So the situation of 1980 is relevant till present? Do you even read your own sources?

Well these sanctions wont work until China enforces them completely. which honestly will not happen because China is scared that if the regime falls then there will be a influx of refugees in their country

Sanctions have already taken a big toll on North Korea. China cannot risk its companies getting sanctioned for the sake of assisting North Korea.

Kim Jong Un is playing with fire; he executed his uncle Jang Song Thaek (a prominent figure who had pro-China political stance) not long ago. He will antagonize even China with his shortsightedness, at some point.

I wonder when North Koreans will realize that this is enough.

nothing is going to change the Attitude of KIMs... Better try with the NK Military.. Persuade them to make a coup

janaab, i don't care for economic things like gdp... india's gdp is far higher than pakistan but that doesn't translate into a comfortable life for indians, except for a few.

if you read my post again i spoke of north korea being more developed ( meaning more comfortable for its citizens ) and more civilized than pakistan or any south asian country.

so can you tell me in which areas is pakistan doing better than dprk ( you said most )?? as far as i know pakistan being a capitalist south asian society has nothing that is free, except hardship. :)

So the situation of 1980 is relevant till present? Do you even read your own sources?

i did see the number '1980' and understand the significance of the 1991 dissolution of ussr... dprk was as affected as cuba, but still cuba and dprk are more comfortable than most countries in the world. :)

One day both China and citizens od DPRK is going to give up on kim following the collapse of regime

okay, fan-boy of israeli military and supporter of war-crimes.

i understand that you can't answer my simple question. :)

@jamahir , you always have an interesting position to posit. Very good to have someone like you here in PDF as it provides an alternative theorem.

Regards, my friend.

i think it will be interesting to conjecture if these sanctions may even bolster trade relations between pyongyang and beijing.

thank you. :)

yeah, that will indeed be interesting.

also, your post made me wonder why pyongyang is not yet a member of 'shanghai cooperation organization'.

GDP represents total economic output and activity of a country. It is not a meaningless indicator.

You are not aware of urbanization trends in Pakistan. Living standards of a large number of families have improved in Pakistan during the 21st century. Cities are growing bigger with passage of time as more individuals/families are able to afford living in them and migrate to them from rural environments. I have witnessed huge homes even in some villages.

Some facts and figures:

The urban / rural population ratio of Pakistan is approximately 40% / 60% at the moment. This is incredible progress.

FYI: Rural population (% of total population) in Pakistan

Pakistan's Middle Class is 18th largest in the world at the moment.

FYI: Pakistan has 18th largest ‘middle class’ in the world: report - The Express Tribune

Yes, poverty remains a fundamental problem but situation is not as bleak as it may seem to foreigners.

if you read my post again i spoke of north korea being more developed ( meaning more comfortable for its citizens ) and more civilized than pakistan or any south asian country.
More oppressed would be an appropriate term. North Koreans do not have much say in the matters of state and most of them suffer in silence.

so can you tell me in which areas is pakistan doing better than dprk ( you said most )?? as far as i know pakistan being a capitalist society has nothing that is free, except hardship. :)
Majority

Why highlight an accomplishment that is no longer valid?

His views are largely distorted and misleading.

also, your post made me wonder why pyongyang is not yet a member of 'shanghai cooperation organization'.
Simple: due to sanctions

OMG,your delusion and ignorance is beyond repair```
just a casual trip to North East part of China's villages, there are literally thousands of North Koreans hiding there, to cross the boarder is at the cost of a bullet in their head from Kim, yet they still believe its worthy to try, North Korea is a living hell if not exaggerating

one interesting thing, if you look at all the pictures about N Koreans you can find from Internet, it seems in that country there is only one fat Kim, and the rest are all skinny and look like a Zombie``
