The interior ministry has suspended the licences for all prohibited bore weapons, through which automatic weapons have been registered. A notification in this regard was issued earlier this week, DawnNewsreported on Saturday.

The decision was taken in line with Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi's promise to ban all automatic weapons.

According to the notification, the owners of automatic weapons will be able to get their weapons replaced with semi-automatic firearms or get Rs50,000 in return for their weapons from the district administration.

The owners of automatic weapon have until January 15, 2018, to submit their weapons or get them replaced following which all licenses will be considered revoked, the ministry announced.
During his speech on the floor of National Assembly after taking oath as the prime minister in August, Abbasi had said: "There is not a single country in the world which allows the licencing of automatic rifles for citizens. However, If you go outside parliament right now, you will see a private militia."

"Action will be taken against them if my cabinet allows for it. The federal government will seize all automatic weapons, compensating people in return," he had promised.

All politicians owns weapons including noonies and pitians but probably this ban will effect civilians only and that is good, for self protection you don't need automatic weapons.

Those civilians who are living in hostile areas and border cannot protect themselves with Non PB weapons. I am against this law.
Government is responsible to provide us training as well as weapon.

. . .
The people who use these for killings & crimes probably don't buy licensed weapons anyways, but a step in the right direction nonetheless.

They are corrupt to asses, don't expect anything positive in favor of Pakistan or Pakistani people from them. Just keep what you have have. This country is not property of their father

If u want to conquer a nation take away its arms. This is the first of the many steps that will be taken in near future.

Shahid Khaqan atleast proving to have a better political vision than nawazo.
He is slowly moving towards de-weaponisation of country which is a good step.

There is no point in this in Pakistan

We have so many guns that all you will do is take weapons out of law abiding citizens hands

We should concentrate on registration of weapons and responsible gun ownership
