The interior ministry has suspended the licences for all prohibited bore weapons, through which automatic weapons have been registered. A notification in this regard was issued earlier this week, DawnNewsreported on Saturday.

The decision was taken in line with Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi's promise to ban all automatic weapons.

According to the notification, the owners of automatic weapons will be able to get their weapons replaced with semi-automatic firearms or get Rs50,000 in return for their weapons from the district administration.

The owners of automatic weapon have until January 15, 2018, to submit their weapons or get them replaced following which all licenses will be considered revoked, the ministry announced.
During his speech on the floor of National Assembly after taking oath as the prime minister in August, Abbasi had said: "There is not a single country in the world which allows the licencing of automatic rifles for citizens. However, If you go outside parliament right now, you will see a private militia."

"Action will be taken against them if my cabinet allows for it. The federal government will seize all automatic weapons, compensating people in return," he had promised.

they are more than welcome to ban the automatic weapons....but then atleast make the rule same for all.......you have Mafiya roaming around brandshing their automatic weapons...... and on the otherside you are taking away the right to self defence from ordinary citizen....atleast open the licenses for handguns, shotguns & rifles

Semi auto and non- P.B license are open any one could have, not talking on behalf of corrupt but high ranking Govt official need P.B weapons and guards since they are high risk.
A common person don't need assault rifle for protection.

bhai, let me know who is issuing licenses these days ---- the last & legit ones were being issued by KPK Govt & latter validation extended to All Pakistan ......I got few of those because I had no option left but....i waited for MOI or Punjab govt to start the issuance but there has been a blanket ban since 2012....two more of my licenses are in pipeline , one for 5.56 x 45 & one for Azb Sporter 308.....and I will go to extreme limits to protect & defend my family come what may.dealers are making the licenses in Punjab but they are back dated booklet type that one has to revalidate / computerize again......if criminals are getting their licenses the same way, then what is the use of banning the license in first place anyway???
