Point 1)
The second youtube video - where a guy asks Zakir Naik =
"At one place the Quran says Heavens and earth took 6 days to be created, where as in some other place, the Quran says the earth and heavens took 8 days. Isnt this contradictory?"
Zakir Naik's answer was "It was predicted that christians and non-muslims will take this flaw out of Quran and show that Quran is wrong" or something like that. He goes on to show that there was a mistake while translation of the Quran from Arabic to English!
Why does God have to put a mistake in Quran itself? Somehow this seems a bit of a confusion. I mean, just with that one sentence that "God made some flaws in the Quran and that christians and jews will point to those flaws" meaning 1) God admits he made deliberate mistakes in the Quran
or
2) By making that statement, you have effective point to show that anyone who points a flaw in the Quran - Even if there IS a flaw - is a chritian/jew or whatever.
so that ways there is no way for people to critically view the Quran?
Point 2)
The number of times Sea is mentioned = 32
Number of times land is mentioned = 11
was it mentioned that we need to divide these two to get the ratio of land Vs Sea? (please quote a link if it is mentioned). How come people did not see this all these centuries?
And why stop at only number of times of the word sea? how many times was the word "stars" mentioned? Billions? trillion? I can say for sure that the space in that book is not sufficient to mention even a fraction of number of stars.
It is human tendency to get order out of chaos. Out of seemingly random things, we relate to something we know. All constellations that astrology comes up with are creations of the mind.
The Quran was given as a "message on how to lead life" and you can definitely lead a normal, peaceful life without knowing lots of scientific stuff (like tribals, or people without degrees or whatever)
The pressure to find scientific proofs in the Quran is forcing some people to make up things out of thin air which is counter productive in propogating goodness of Quran. As a book teaching good ways to live, it is very good. Why the pressure to show that it has every scientific theory?
final point - if the global warming continues the same way, the ratio of water Vs land will change. But what is written in the book will not change.. right?
I prefer keeping religion and science separate - this is my view - that although all religions proclaim their's is the best and there is science also included in all of these books, I am yet to see people who have followed only religious books (AND NOTHING ELSE) and made good scietific progress. And that includes christians , Jews , Hindus, Buddhists etc. But yes, they are better human beings - they treat people with respect, live peacefully etc. and that is what all the books of religions are for!
