Yep, many people use harsh words to describe Guizhou such as 穷山恶水。。。。
I have to say, I was totally shocked when I traveled to Guiyang last year....
I was shocked, impressed, and worried.....worried from Hubei Province....
They centre on sectors such as high-tech, tourism, organic agriculture....
And their high-speed railway station is light years ahead of the ones in Wuhan....
Every time Wuhan people brag about our ones in the development forums, I will show them the updates in Guizhou Province.
Then they'll shut up.
I was so pissed off by their self-contentment....

Brother, benefits of being the underdog...

Looks like Guiyang has been using the similar tactics against other sister provinces that China has been using against the US-led West: Keep a low profile, work diligently and improve, and then take the contenders by surprise in their contentment.

In any case, development of a Chinese area is development of the entire nation.

From experiences of my trip last year (I traveled from Kunming), we can first arrive in Guiyang City by HSR or Anshun City (where the waterfall is located), then transfer by tourist coach which runs every 10-15min from either city......The national park is located right next to G60 Shanghai-Kunming national expressway, 50km from Anshun and 120km from Guiyang.....

I believe, when the high-speed railway station opens 3 months later in Anshun City (Guiyang-Kunming HSR in Nov or Dec), there will be very frequent tourist shuttle bus from the station to the entrance of the tourist precinct....We need at least 2 days for the park....There are 3 routes, one shorter route and 2 longer routes. And more tourist infra are being built there, the park will be bigger. Currently, the infra is awesome, but far from enough to meet the growing need...I had to arrive at the entrance at 7am to avoid the crowd....Still, I was stuck in the crowd for many times.....

The park is huge....you can walk inside for 2-3 days....but still, not easy to hide from the crowd. And it was not even on the public holiday....

Anshun City will have 3 HSR stations (100km long tracks in the city)....
Anshun West is the biggest one in the main city...

Brief on the first day of Mid-Autumn Holiday
Thursday witnessed 3.77 million visitors to Guizhou Province with total revenue of 2.29 billion yuan.
Many tourist sites welcomed the first national holiday after the expressway network reached there.

Suiyang County published the report of the tourism census, finding 272 new tourist resource entities.

Expressway development conference was hold on the eve of Mid-Autumn Day, announcing the ambitious 10096-km long plan based on the current 6000km-long network.

Anshun city announced its 2016-2030 urban plan, aiming to become a nationally famous city for eco-tourism.

2016 H1 Guizhou Tourism Conference
During the first half of 2016, Guizhou Province welcomed 257 million tourists (39.2%) with total tourist revenue of 224 billion yuan (41.1%). Among them, 77 million tourists stayed no less than one night (28.3%). Investment on tourism reached 17.7 billion yuan on 805 projects, finishing 62.95% of the annual plan. 1939 new hotels and guesthouses were added with 93778 new beds (12.6%). 469 new tourist toilets were built and 498 under construction.

“smart road" and "smart industry"

The tourist road combines tourist villages, village-owned industry, agricultural tourism, outdoor sport, traditional tourist sites, etc.

At Liming Village, locals founded a village-owned company about whitewater rafting, financially supported by the state. Local villagers have 55% shares. 25 extremely poor villagers become the company's staff and shareholders. It is estimated they can earn 800k yuan this year and 3 million yuan next year!
　　
At Lintai Village, they used to spend half a day on the 30km mountainous roads to the county town. Now they have sold their fruits and brown sugar via E-commerce to consumers around China, and even to Europe.

Mr. Liu and Mrs Yuan used to work in the factories in coastal China. Now, they are running a guesthouse at one of the many service centres along the highway and they also opened a restaurant where you have to order several days ahead of time to taste their original organic dishes!

1100 migrant workers from this village use to work outside. Now, 800 have come back home and opened their small business for tourists.

At Tucheng Village, this Labor Day Festival attracted 228,000 tourist and earned 230 million yuan!
