I think we had enough mocking at the Russians for the INS viky delay, but it's time we should look at a different aspect, i wanted to know if the carrier is worth the wait, i know it's capabilities but what i wanna know is where will it stand as far as other powerful navies are concerned? + what additional capabilities it will give over INS viraat (apart from the 4.5 gen mig 29s).
Well compared to the currentl sole ACC in the IOR the Vikramditya is a HUGE step up and that is primarily because of the MIG-29K. Being able to sail anywhere in the world with 25-30 high-performance state of the art, supersonic 4.5++ gen fighters is a not somthing to overlook. Addtionally the IN has insited on some hefty upgrades and the Viky is now quite a C&C platform. Addtionally another feather in the Vikramditya's cap is the CBG it will be part of- 1-2 P-17/As, 1-2 P-15A/B,1-2 SSN/SSK,1-2 Support ships etc this is one deadly CBG all told and as a CBG it is up there with the best- behind the USN purely because the SupperCarriers the CBG is centered around is in another leage especially in respect to the Viky but the IN escorts more than hold their own in relation to the USN's escprts in CBGs. So the Vikramditya CBG could be 2nd or 3rd when you look at the nations with active ACCs-Spain,France,US,Brazil,Thailand,Russia. Probobly 3rd as the Charles De Guale is one mean ACC.
