Inquiry report on POL shortage: Oil smuggling into Pakistan a reality

Oil Smuggling in such high volume and guardians of border do not know about it ?
If some one try to hide corruption he is a bigger threat to Pakistan than India /Iran.
Every responsible party must come out clean, specially the border control agency.

Imran Khan was informed about it repeatedly by Baluchistan (local) authorities, it was reported than on local and international media, but ruling clergy simply didn't seemed interested. Until the day come when international oil prices went down (amid COVID) hence all the economics of smuggling got disturbed, followed by obvious disruption in oil supply. Naturally lead to oil crisis at national level... situation come into mass media, and settled at formation of inquiry commission.
Which eventually prepared a mild report.... by minisculing figures and numbers, almost a coverup attempt to, what actually is a mammoth scandal. Not limited to that, once the commission report was out, corrupt King ordered to shelve the report, which was pulled out by Lahore Chief Justice, as it again came to lime light followed by killing of 13 Pakistanis in a fiery accident with a pickup truck carrying Iranian oil in unauthorized vehicle... rest is history.

Now if some one analyze the crime here, it goes as deep one could imagine....... it's really freaking deep and equally deep is the cover up game, which is being played right now, more than before. Imagine, today ruling clergy is spending billions just to contain the outfall and favors are being dolled out generously.

Coming back to the subject, smuggling of millions of liters of oil into Pakistan is one side of coin, but the smuggling of billions of $ out of Pakistan to Iran is the other side of coin. Of course Iranian oil is not a Saudi aid.
If oil can be smuggled in such a large quantity, than its stupidity to think that state of Pakistan have any control over it's border with Iran.
Obviously matter is not limited to oil smuggling. Fall out of totally uncontrolled borders scales to compromise in national security.... to say the least.
Only commander Southern Command can give explanation... and quite rightly Chief Justice of Lahore HC, has pointed at it. I'm hoping to see explanations from the GHQ as well.

A lot can also be said on lack of interest by opposition specially Zardari and counter justifications on social media, in some case completely disregarding the already available basic report, which is limited to few interviews and analysis of rules and regulations, of oil production, storage and data recording at limited scale, which is certainly not enough.

PMLN is in need of favors, and this is their opportunity and back door discussions are already underway.
As anyone can see, no where public is involved or has any say in matters of state level corruption and incompetence, which hints at sham democracy.

When illegal trade amounts to billions of dollars , every power center is involved. Bad for nation's economy but extremely lucrative for everyone ruling it.

Iran surely will never crack down on this. This gives them valuable dollars during sanctions. Everyone except Pakistan state is making money.

It's common sense that Pakistan is loosing, but it's simple way to put it.

Iran would be looking to draw blood, if borders get sealed. It's up to us to seal the border irrespective.

I have a long history of reporting smuggling and corrupt trade deals ever since Zardari took over.

This news should have been alarming for every patriot Pakistani, it's reporting 100'000 tons of oil, but the ruling clergy and Zardari kept it low profile.

So basically PTI winning Karachi was part of the big game... who ever controls port Qasim becomes darling of west and billionaire at the same time, having assets world wide, despite having no record of job or business earnings.

Imagine if oil vessels and boats are used to smuggle oil to Karachi, than what ever happens through land border is a hogwash.

Patriots Pakistanis should propose, how can we stand against Imran Khan sponsored oil smuggling?
Traitors should shut up.
Some here will do anything to portray pakistannin a bad light.
They are more Indian than Indians themselves.

@WebMaster reported for trolling and personal remarks.

Apparently not every one on pdf is against Iranian oil smuggling and exporting $ out to Iran.
Posting remarks of one of rare posters on the subject of oil smuggling from June 2020. What this poster wrote hints at the presence of such chamchas at pdf in abundance.

Iran, July 9, 2019 - In recent days, reports have emerged on social media claiming that huge amounts of fuel are smuggled to Pakistan over Iran’s eastern borders. Namely the Sistan and Baluchistan province in southeast Iran where the major part of the Sunni minority lives is blamed for the smuggling.

However, it is no secret that the main smuggling of fuel and especially oil in recent years isn’t done with 40-liter fuel containers. Organizing endless caravans of fuel tankers with thousands of liters of capacity each can’t be done without at least receiving the green light from authorities.

In 2018, the Fars news agency, affiliated to the terrorist-designated Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC), published a video clip titled, “Organized smuggling of fuel/‌pipework on the seabed for smuggling fuel!” They also wrote about smuggling fuel with small boats: “In Hormozgan province, there are 50 launches [small boats] which smuggle 20,000 to 50,000 liters of fuel each, every day. That’s how millions of liters of the country’s resources are stolen every day.”

Smuggling fuel was a lucrative business in Iran even before the energy sanctions that prevented the Iranian mullahs from selling the country’s crude oil for hard currency. That is because fuel is subsidized in Iran and is sold way lower than free market prices. Profiteers with the right connections and assets can make a fortune by smuggling the cheap fuel to neighboring countries.

Also in late 2018, Abdollah Hendiani, deputy manager of the office of the fight against goods and currency smuggling in Iran, said during an interview with Iran’s state-run television, “Over the past three months, about one billion liters have been smuggled. This is about ten to 13 million liters of smuggled fuel every day.”

Smuggling this huge amount of fuel over the Iranian border per day requires a caravan of 500 fuel tankers with a capacity of 20,000 liters each. And every tanker needs to cross the border twice per day.

The amount of trafficked fuel is so high that Pakistani officials are calling for action to prevent further damages to their economy.

Fars news agency writes, “The Pakistani customs office announced in a report that smuggled fuel from Iran is damaging the country in the range of 300 million rupees per year, calling for increased supervision of the borders.”

Reports show that about 50 to 60 percent of Karachi’s fuel is smuggled and foreign shipping companies and domestic fuel stations are the customer base of Iran’s smuggled gas,” Fars news agency further writes.

The situation is so bad that Iranian regime Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh acknowledges the fact that officials have a hand in the entire smuggling business. “Smuggling has increased. And it’s not only smugglers, everybody has [a hand in it],” he said.

Iran’s chief of the committee for combating trafficking also said that smuggling fuel is an “organized crime” and “it may be connected to some government institutions.”

Although smuggling fuel and crude oil can by no means compensate for the sales that the Iranian regime has lost due to sanctions, pundits expect further increases in smuggling in the coming months.

@TNT i have reposted your remarks above. hope you don't mind.

No since Lahore High Court has taken notice, and declared all corruption is state sponsored, so what kind of state is busy smuggling $ to Iran and in return smuggling oil into Pakistan.

Report all you want....I GUESS YOU MUST FEEL A TRAITOR TO TAKE IT PERSONALLY
I am not the only one calling you out am I?
You @BATMAN are so anti Pakistan @WebMaster thats you make our enemies look good.
You keep going after Pakistan...we Pakistani will go after you

Very interesting dimension is that finance adviser to Imran Khan Mr. Reza Baqir has always advised Imran Khan to increase taxes on people of Pakistan but has never advised to stop smuggling of oil from Iran... does he also receive his cut or he act ignorant just to the serve some greater cause!
Like some sort of financial fighter of Iran.

.
This is when Imran Khan took control of Pakistan and ordered to stop oil imports and sold it to nation as part of austerity drive. While iran found some unknown destination for its oil, besides US army in Afghanistan.
3 billion liters of fuel smuggled from Iran

It reminds me, when once oil tankers carrying oil from port Qasim to Afghanistan were attacked, could it be possible that it was the Iranian fighters executing those attacks? After all that is still open case.

Oil Smuggling in such high volume and guardians of border do not know about it ?
offcourse they know! If Pakistan didnt gain any valuable benefit from smuggled Iranian hydrocarbons then Pakistani govt w0uld've shut down this trade. @BATMAN is acting like a hypocrite by pretending Pakistan has no benefit to this trade. If Pakistan doesnt demand Iranian oil and gas, then Iranian oil and gas wouldnt sell in Pakistan, simple.

Lets separate emotions from raw economics here. Pakistan needs alot of well priced energy and Iran has alot of it, and thats why there is a "deal" happening, how it happens is just semantics...
