Inquiry finds that Disorientation of crew in poor weather likely cause of CDS chopper crash

As I said in the previous thread, not surprising; it will come out that poor pilot training will be the cause of this crash. As the PAF air chief said; the IAF is an unprofessional Air Force. The Russians should sue the Indians for sullying the name of their defense equipment.

VIP Mi 17 need terrain approach warning system. They were earlier not fitted as Mi 17 are operated a lot in mountains and thus there would have been lots of false activation.

Injury rejected.

A more clinical investigation is required. Blaming weather is kindergarten stuff.

I am surprised they aren't fitted with terrain warning systems. The president, VP, RM and the PM as well as several other dignitaries travel by these Mi-17s. Pretty sure that there is more to this investigation than meets the eye.

Top weapons in PAF arsenal

1. J10C
2. JFT Block 3
3. F16 Block 52
4. RAAD2 ALCM
5. IAF incompetency

Ranking is not appropriate. Number "5" shall be designated as Number "1".

This would open a new conspiracy that deliberate automatic gas release caused this disorientation. We have the same theories on crash of gen Zia ul haq's plane crash.

I doubt. State control on Indian media is very strong. It is not like Pakistan. You can see that, how they have easily digested and absorbed the humiliation of Feb 27, and of Galwan Clash. One key reason, for such behavior, is that, unlike Pakistan, which is somewhat care-free society, India is fundamentally an insecure society.

(Not to be cocky or complacent, since things could very easily go in the opposite direction but)

Any nation selling equipment to India should hike up the prices by large margins, because it's almost guaranteed they'll ruin its reputation.

France may not be happy about the Rafale sale in the possible future, and people may no longer hold it in the same regard soon. On the contrary, Chinese platforms may gain quite a lot of momentum and international sales attention. From "Chinese junk" to something else entirely.

Gen Rawat's Chopper Crashed Due To Pilot Error In Cloudy Weather, Court Of Inquiry Finds

Flight Data Recorder and Cockpit Voice Recorder were analysed by the court of inquiry.

New Delhi:
Pilot error caused the chopper crash that led to Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat's death last month, according to preliminary findings of the inquiry team investigating the matter.
"The accident was a result of entry into clouds due to an unexpected change in weather conditions in the valley. This led to spatial disorientation of the pilot resulting in a Controlled Flight Into Terrain (CFIT)," the team found after analysing the Flight Data Recorder and Cockpit Voice Recorder besides questioning all available witnesses to determine the most probable cause of the accident.
CFIT occurs when an airworthy aircraft, while under the complete control of the pilot, is inadvertently flown into terrain, water, or an obstacle.
According to the IATA (International Air Transport Association), the term refers to accidents in which in-flight collisions with terrain, water, or another obstacle occur without indication of loss of control.
The United States Federal Aviation Administration says CFIT is ''...an unintentional collision with terrain (ground, mountain, body of water, or an obstacle) while an aircraft is under positive control."
The critical distinction in such incidents is the fact the aircraft is under the control of the flight cre

A Mi-17V5 helicopter carrying Gen Rawat, his wife Madhulika, and 12 other armed forces personnel - from the Sulur Air Force base in Tamil Nadu's Coimbatore to the Defence Staff Services Colleges in Wellington, had crashed on December 8 last year.
The crash killed CDS Gen Rawat, his wife, and 11 others. Group Captain Varun Singh, a passenger on the chopper, miraculously survived the crash only to die of severe burn injuries a few days later.

Same happened to PAF Air Chief Mushaf Ali Mir Fokker plane.
It's a very similar kind of case .

Modi had already warned that radars cant see in the clouds
