Indus civilization and it's true inheritance

Their language is undeciphered, we don't know how much they influenced us in that regard. This also makes any cultural influence they may have had difficult to find.

What we can confirm is that they lived in modern day Pakistan/north-west Hindustan, and that they probably did influence the Aryan invaders to some degree as well as intermarry with them.

As for ancestry, as said before, almost everyone has ancestors from these ancient civilisations since they are from so long ago, so that point is almost irrelevant.
Can we say that it was derived by present day india.

Hey Guy,
I am opening this thread to discuss the legality of inheritance of indus civilization to pakistan in the context of history, culture, religion and other social aspects and why do most of indians deny the fact that pakistan is true inheritor of indus civilazation and claim that indus civilization was derived by them.
All the inputs are welcomed from Pakistani and indian brothers but my request is to make them objective. Thank you.
@dsr478@Joe Shearer @Kaptaan @Talwar e Pakistan @Sher Shah Awan@django.
Inferiority complex make them do that. But they can't change history

Fact is IVC start from Mehrgarh (Present day Baluchistan) dated back 7000BC till 2000BC. It is the oldest old of IVC and it shows that may be it link either Iran or Central Asia or may be local people.

No Indian with a non jingoistic mindset can deny that a significant part of the IVC is in present day Pak. The IVC obviously did not know India-Pak borders so it is present in present day India too along the western part of India.
We don't deny that, but it's like Sudan laying claim over the Egyptian Nile Civilization because that civilization at various times encompassed some areas of Sudan.

Will try getting one.

Don't know much about that. So it is akin to Pakistan laying claim over Mughal Empire because some areas of the Mughals fall in present day Pak?

I, along with most Pakistanis are pretty neutral to them; to most of us - they were simply a respected foreign dynasty that had loose control over our lands for a century or two.

Mughals by proportional land %age had control over more of Pakistan than they did over modern-day India. The only reason why many Pakistanis "claim" them is because they are religiously and somewhat culturally more affiliated towards Pakistan than they are to India.

Hence you cannot really compare the Mughal Empire to IVC.

My point is that the region has no clear national boundaries and at various points, South Asia has some shared legacy or the other. I realize India given its size tends to share a lot with its neighbors - with Bangladesh it shares Tagore and Bengali culture, with Nepal it shares Gorkhas and Gorkha culture - Tenzing Norgay comes to mind; with Lanka it shares Tamil culture etc. With Pakistan it is not just IVC, it is also Punjabi language. I am not Punjabi, so I don't know if there are shared fests or other stuff. But I am sure there is some cultural overlap.

There will always be cultural overlap.
Except in the minds of wannabe puritans...but nothing's gonna change their minds.

These overlaps not only exist in South Asia but throughout the world, as they are common. The "overlaps" we share with India is actually very meagre to the point it's quite irrelevant.

Punjabis make up 2-3% of the Indian Population yet it makes up 48% of the Pakistani population. Look at the gap.

The Baloch population of Pakistan also overlaps into Iran, does that mean that we can now claim Iranian history, heritage and culture?

India is filled with such "meagre" population cultures. Parsis make up 0.006% of the population - does that negate all their history, culture and achievements in India? Bengalis make about 8-9%. What's India without Tagore and Bose?

I'm not talking about the "population groups" - I'm talking about overlap gaps and how it's not sufficient enough to claim an entire civilization.
