The exercise took place at Ranikhet. The Indian soldiers look like Kumaonis. The Kumaon Regimental Center is at Ranikhet.
Additionally there are some Naga soldiers visible in the videos as well. The Naga Regiment shares the Center as well, till sufficient Naga Regiments are raised. Then their Center will shift to the NE.

The Naga regiment is big enough already. I am in favour that IA raises regiments from Sikkim and Arunachal that was proposed earlier and also from Tripura, Mizoram and Manipur. Rather than making all this as separate community based regiments, it would be great if it is just two regiments having htese 5 states' people with regiment names that show them like:

1) Eastern Command Force
2) Northeast PANTHER regiment (since big cats are common in northeastern forests also depict ferocity).

You know, after looking at the videos I am wondering why our army didn't change to a digital pattern. Russia, NATO, China all have changed to a digital pattern while the new issue uniform for IA is again non-digital.

Wonder if this is because of our terrain's requirements or reluctance to adopt something new.

And have a positive attitude in life...dont ALWAYS criticise the govt. for everything.

With F-INSAS still in the development phase..it will take some time to modernise the infantry...and with a Army so big...things cant be changed in two days.

So the guys with the Tavors and OR-201 helmets aren't Army SF?Do the Nagas even have Tavors in their inventory.Because as far as I knew we only had Tavors for Army SF.Also 10,000+ for CRPF for anti maoist ops.

intresting, i know there has been much debate about this but..., in this vid we can CLEARLY see new helmets,Tavor-21's,BLACK LMG'S and other advanced tech not normally seen on regular IA units so are these guys Special Forces or what, if not then are Ghatak platoons really issued Tavors?? if so this was NOT publicised at all. Either way GREAT to see MODERN, DECENT tech in these deserving warriors. Indian Armed forces are clearly shaping the way for their future as a richly deserved SUPERPOWER. Don't however like the title of the vid, "Russia aids India", the IA has extensive experience in jungle warfare, just look at the world renowned CIJWS special forces from around the WORLD go to train at this prestigious school. This is a BI-LATERAL ex, both side learning from each other, infact the Russian army asked India for help in mountain warfare given the IA's extensive mountain experience.

I would say the soldiers are a mix of infantry units and special forces.

The ones with Black Insas LMG are infantrymen(judging by the colour of their rank patches)..looks like they are from the Grenadier regtt of IA.

The ones with Tavor look like Para Commandos.
