my friend, the future of superpower china is the world, the maritime silk roads to europe and america and the space. why bother with smallness as indochina or asean?

So after Indonesia's withdrawal, Vietnam will rule ASEAN according to our Vietnamese members.

Maybe, the withdrawal will weaken Thailand-Malaysia as their market get narrower when VN almost dont have much economic tie wt Indonesia. We will call for more help from Russia-EU-US-JP-SK to surpass Thailand in all fields, and restart the plan to unify sub-Mekong region again.

After that, we will call for fund in Kra canal project in Thailand, merchant ships will pass through Kra canal instead of Malacca strait. Game over for Malaysia-Singapore

Palestinian struggle is also one of our foreign policy interest where ASEAN is not a place that can help it in any way. Talking about Rohingya in Myanmar, our government are active now there by helping both groups (Muslim and Buddsh).

It is likely that we are going to stay but with more Indonesian interest in it, feeling good because of being acknowledged as a leader by compromising our own interest is our past policy. Last administration foreign policy under Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is to make zero enemy and many friends. Not any more now.

Indonesia will never withdraw its membership & showcase its maturity within ASEAN, since ASEAN is literally a masterpiece of indonesia & friends (Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand) diplomacy within south east asia region. This small group has succeed to maintain peace and order that brings economic growth & stability for its members.

Vietnamese people maybe have a dream to bring the sub mekong region within its sphere of influence, whether it's possible or not to be achieved in their lifetime span, with the size of economic power that only a fraction of its richer neighbors, it's quite questionable.

In other hand, indonesia is already an empire, with sphere of influence from sumatra to papua. 17.000 islands, 5.8 million km² of sea territory, with java as the core of its strength. Our new Pres see this, and he is ready to bring Indonesia to the new height.

my friend, read the article again. haven´t you missed the news they sunk our fishing vessels?

indonesia under the new administration seeks a more nationalistic policy. you can hear that voice during the election campaign. that is not a secret, since years indonesia is not happy being in the asean bloc as she sees the bloc as useless, inferior. what indonesia wants is a greater status among the great powers as china, japan and america.
