Jakarta, Indonesia is set to launch a locally made satellite from India on September 27, a media report said on Thursday.

The LAPAN A2/Orari satellite was produced entirely in Indonesia by the National Institute of Aeronautics and Space (LAPAN) in 2012. It is a successor to LAPAN A1/Tubsat, which was launched in India in 2007, The Jakarta Post reported.

"Today, I'm officially sending off the LAPAN A2/Orari satellite," said President Joko Widodo during the launch ceremony on Thursday.

The satellite will be shipped to India on Friday. It will be launched at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh.

LAPAN A2/Orari will function as a tool to monitor land usage, ship movements, sea resources and fishing explorations.

It is also equipped with an automatic packet reporting system on board to aid disaster mitigation by monitoring floods, changes in the sea level as well as movements of the population.

The satellite will orbit the earth along the equator with an altitude of 650 km and will travel at 7.5 km per second - enabling it to circle 14 times a day.

great news a new coustmer for ISRO .... looks like a burnol moment for people of land of the pure as a "Muslim nation" is giving prefrence to a evil india when they could have got done the same job by "technologicalli better & cheaper" SLV from land of the pure :whistle:

It is a microsatellite weighing no more than around 50 kg. It carries an AIS (Automatic Identification System) to identify the ships in the waters of Indonesia - The Earth observation payload of LAPAN A2 consists of a HDTV Video camera.

The cost of launch wouldn't more than a few hundred thousand dollars.

The LAPAN A-1 TUBSAT was launched in 2007 itself....and LAPAN A-2 was originally scheduled to be launched on October 2015....so it is being launched one month ahead of the planned date accepted by Indonesia. I doubt any other country offered the same price and same guaranteed launch window that Antrix did.

Satellite launches are a highly supply constrained industry. India is looking to expand the number of launches and its manufacturing industry for these rockets over the next few years.

It is a microsatellite weighing no more than around 50 kg. It carries an AIS (Automatic Identification System) to identify the ships in the waters of Indonesia - The Earth observation payload of LAPAN A2 consists of a HDTV Video camera.

The cost of launch wouldn't more than a few hundred thousand dollars.

Cost of launching will be under 300,000 USD I think....could be as low as 250,000 USD.

Here their Space Agency Chief says that both LAPAN-A2 and LAPAN-A3, weigh no more than around 50 kg.

I was wondering if anyone has any video footage of any of the ASLV launches....or if anyone knows does such footage even exist?

well if they can defete indian army in a war with help of roohaani taqat why cant they launch a sat with that too .... they can strap the sat to the super duper DSI tech enabelled plane of theres which can establish the sat in the orbit and come back :agree:
