The first meeting of the Indo-Pakistan Joint Business Council to be held in Islamabad on June 29 will have on its agenda discussions relating to grant of MFN (most favoured nation) status to India, import of petrochemicals and petroleum products, the TAPI (Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India) pipeline project, and co-operation in infrastructure and information technology (IT).

In the backdrop of the establishment of a new democratic government in Pakistan, which has sent positive signals for improving relations with India, issues such as enhanced air and rail connectivity, a relaxed visa regime, and the creation of banking channels would also figure in the discussions. It is understood that the meeting will seek to lay down a roadmap for giving a push to economic engagement and further normalise trade relations between the two neighbours.

The issue of Pakistan increasing the list of items that could be traded through the land route, as promised way back in April 2012, will also figure in the talks. At present, 132 items could be traded through the road route at Wagah, and India and the business community from Pakistan are strongly pitching for increasing this limit substantially.

India should be refused TAPI link, unless they make a 'coin commitment' to IPI.

If India doesn't have the steel balls to play for its interest and is reluctant to use its diplomatic muscle for IPI,leaving Pakistan alone to deal with the Yankees, hoping to come back and join the party when Pakistan has faced all of the consequences....it shouldn't be allowed to join TAPI. You think, we don't know your little game?--Wouldn't it have been better to tell the yankees to p iss off from our regional interests together....wouldn't that also have discouraged the vested interests in Mideast working against IPI,especially Qatar?

TAPI, IPI are all pipe dreams. India does not trust Pakistan enough to risk upsetting the U.S. over the IPI. This idea is mentioned only to enable India to get better offers from suppliers & from the U.S. Qatar, the U.S. all play ball when this is brought up as an alternative. Just see all the talk about exporting natural gas from the U.S. to India. We look out for our interests, just that you have a poor comprehension of what you think they might be.

Why even bother replying?....Enjoy Qatari gas!

Replied to set right the perception you seem to have that India is not willing to protect her interests. We are, just that our interests lie elsewhere. There is simply no way, given the current situation between India & Pakistan, that we are going to risk committing completely to any pipeline through Pakistan. That however, does not stop us from raising this bogey now & then to apply gentle pressure elsewhere.

Enjoy Qatari gas as i said before. Pakistan will not be linking up TAPI to India anytime soon.

Now that you have vented, lets talk logic & facts. There is no way India would accept terms where India will have to pay Iran at delivery on Iran-Pak border. That was one of the biggest roadblocks in IPI. India would never want its energy security to be jeopardized by depending on Pakistan for delivery of gas that India has already paid for.

btw, about telling USA to do whatever, who invited them into the subcontinent to begin with? Yeah! Pakistan.. So kind of hypocritical on your part to now blame that on India.. Innit ??
