India’s UNSC alliance with Japan biggest mistake: Chinese media

India was not a country back then. It was part of Britain. I don't see Canada or Australia going for UNSC even though they both sacrificed a lot too o_O
British India was a country which was part of the empire. China was part of the Japanese Empire. Vichy France was part of the Third Reich.

UNSC reform will happen, but who is going to get the permanent seat is the question. Out of the 193 members almost 150+ are pushing for the reforms, already south africa, nigeria, egypt started fighting over the permanent seat if african continent gets one or two seats. Its very unlikely for the P5 to veto and block the UNSC expansion, when majority are pushing for the reforms along with two of the P5 members.

. .
As long as Japan is a party to the so-called ”G4“,India will never ever make to be a permanent member of the UNSC。

Let's be real here, you weren't going to support our bid anyway

UNSC reforms document have been forwarded to all the UNGA members states and here India is having backing of most of the countries.

Lol. India was a Victor in WW-2. It certainly contributed more troops and resources to the Allied effort that so-called victor France did. The French surrendered in a jiffy. And Vichy France was a willing Nazi ally. How it is considered a WW2 victor more than India which played a pivotal role in the Pacific sector defies logic.

This is a thing that I absolutely detest.

Ok, so now you are claiming the credit for the Indian soldiers in WW2 who fought for the British.

Will you then also take the credit for the Indian soldiers who participated in the Opium war against China?
Or who ransacked the Summer Palace in Beijing?

Either take full credit for all actions good and bad, or just dont take acknowledgement.

I think it is about time that India gets a UNSC seat. Let's hope for the best.

Yes and Yes. It is not a question of credit - it is a matter of record. What is the Indian Army today is a continuation of the British Indian Army - and that comes with all its actions - good and bad. That was the whole point of not including the INA troops into the Indian Army. Also, the final straw which broke the camel's back - was the Bombay Mutiny of the British Indian forces.

Huh.......did you read your history textbook properly bro?:what: By your own logic the soviet union was part of the third reich as well before the end of the war. :undecided:

Was the Government of Soviet Union a collaborator with the Third Reich? Nope, it wasn't. Was Vichy France a collaborator? A resounding yes.

British India was a colony of Britain. China remained a sovereign country during Japanese invasion. France was occupied by the Third Reich.

Perhaps you were trolling, but that's stupid.

China too was a collaborator with its capital based in Nanking. Please read up before resorting to personal attacks.

It's INDIA & JAPAN.. it's only fair not to expect anything otherwise from China on this!

Well its unfortunate for India that it was our colony back then, if not it would probably have had a seat after the war. However, India wasnt a country(it had not been for a century) back then since it was a part of the british empire.

Only Japan and China were indepedent countries in Asia back then. The rest where all either Dutch, American. Japanese, French and obviously British colonies.
Unfortunately for Japan despite being Asia's most advanced industrial power(even today.lol) it lost the war. China(Under the ROC) the only other independent asian country back then obviously got the seat sincce it was luckily part of the victors camp. So if india had been an independent country back then and had participated in the war like it did under our empire the it would have obviously been given a seat as well. Unfortunately it wasnt an indepedent country, reason it wasn't given a seat. As simple as that.

Anyway, i believe things will probably change in future and MAYBE the P5 will be expanded. But that will be a very long time from today to be honest.

The Chinese seat was with Taiwan till '71. Thanks to Kissinger and Nixon, the seat moved to Beijing from Taipei. You are right - it would have if it even had dominion status.

We are yet to see defence deals with Japan, I wonder what happened to the U2 planes deal ?

Where did it got stuck ?

UNSC is overrated. It's more for prestige than anything.

“Indian politicians, academics and media insist China as its biggest obstacle in winning the seat. Beijing as a UNSC permanent member has not openly supported New Delhi’s UN aspiration. India, taking this as an excuse, pressures China through every possible means,” it said.

“In fact, India’s biggest mistake is to ally itself with Japan, Germany and Brazil. First of all, these three countries have opponents in the region. Japan’s bid for permanent membership will definitely invite strong opposition from China and South Korea,” it said.

China has been maintaining for long that it is a mistake on the part of India to join Japanspecially, whose candidature Beijing opposes for historical reasons.

China has not gone beyond saying that Beijing understands New Delhi’s aspiration to play a bigger role in the UN.

The article did not mention China’s close ally Pakistan’s opposition to India’s candidature for a permanent UNSC seat.

“Admittedly, the US once endorsed India’s aspirations before. The reason behind such support is to rope India in to counter China. But Washington will not support New Delhi to obtain a veto seat. India has observed that, in the IGN, the US refused to contribute to the negotiating text. This is surprising to the Indians,” it said.

“Uncertain of winning a permanent seat this year, Japan has already prepared to become a non-permanent Security Council member from 2016 to 2017. Earlier, Japan offered massive aid to Bangladesh in exchange for its support and has already won support from African and Latin American countries,” it said.

“India, on the other hand, has no such plan and already lagged behind Japan in winning the non-permanent seat, for which Asia has a quota of only one each year,” it said.

India will be one of the big three economies in the world by 2025-2030. China & USA will be the other two. These three countries will be way ahead of the rest of the world.

China will look foolish if they openly oppose India aspirations
