'India's secret N-submarine project nearing completion'

Great, yet another nuclear strike option/capability for India.
Ohwell, all for the greater good and for keeping the south east asian region "peaceful" and stable right?
I wonder how Pakistan is going to counter this, ahwell, probably going to be another arms race which will drain precious funds which can be used for other important developments in Pakistan.

Even if Some other Country will give us anti Submarine Technology or Submarine to counter indian Threat, Indians will leave no Card unturned in order to cancel that Deal.

Regarding indian IQ  Funny Indeed. Have you heard about Pakistani Who got 23 A level Subjects at the same time.

Have you heard about the Pakistani who got his MCSC at the age of 9.

Have you heard about a Pakistani who got CCNA and CCNP at the age of 10

Have you heard about the Pakistani how produced a new Internet explorer.

Have you heard about the Pakistani Brothers who made world's first Virus.

and the List Goes On...............

Indian Economy: Our Economy is quite suitable for Our needs and as compared to size of our Country Allhamudulillah we are ok. Pakistan is Included in the Group on Next 11 emerging Countries for your Kind Information. Get over your dream that Pakistani Economy is even worse than Zimbabwe.

Indian Humanity: :woot: Sorry you are not our Role Model in this case and we don't wanna Compete with you in this field thank you very Much, we have seen your Humanity many Times.

Both country got independence together but look where is India

India had ready Made infrastructure and Pakistan had Nothing still we evolved and today we are at Par with you. Its the western Propaganda that Calls Pakistan a Failed state without knowing the reality on the ground, conditions in Pakistan are not that Bad as they are projected n the media.

I think India has done lot of advancement and Progress BUT there are some cases where Pakistan wont want to Compete with India Like "How India is making Soft Drinks using Cow's PISS"

I think it's time we call in the bug exterminator, quite alot of useless one-liners from certain Indians make this discussion useless.
Also, Jaishriram, if you've come to this board with the mentality of Pakistan being the enemy, then I can tell that you won't last long as a member of PDF.
Please adjust the quality of your posts, this is a mature defence forum, not a BRK like forum.

This one is debatable brother

There are two threads running hot on cow urine..
Just go through the title of threads in this forum ..There are so many threads which opened only to bash India.

I have so far seen no insults of any kind, just mere disbelief and astonishment over the drinking of cow urine and the plans of distributing and producing it for consumers.
Besides, 1 less serious thread is located in the Members section, a section where the rules are slightly less "tight" and where people can usually talk about non defence related matters.
Threads who are opened to bash India are often or almost always detected and removed by the admins/mods.
PDF forum is actually very tolerant towards other people and their backgrounds, and especially in the case of India.
You wouldn't say so otherwise, if you'd go to an Indian based forum, you'd smell anti-Pakistan sentiments from the moment you are viewing the page in your browser.

Even a 5 year old can do that as all the answers are available on blogs and you just have to see the answers and mark them.So not a surprise as anyone who can read and operate computer can do it.

sir, please insert some logic into your threads it seems you are derailing the whole thread, please dont speak about abstract ideas such as IQ and other bullshit.
yes both countries got independence together and from a neutral prespective as i see both has gone nowhere because of this hatred instilled in people like you.

please provide logical arguments we all here are ready to discuss and argue as well as support and accept.

The n Submarine project of India whether nearing completion or not has nothing to do with Pakistan..Technically it is only a second strike capability after first disarming strike by a major power(read china/Us) has taken out the land based nukes..Since we dont ve the first strike ability as of now or intend to ve in near future ,the existence of n submarine has nothing to do with us.Its just that simple

India's indigenous N-sub secret is out
Mail Today Bureau
New Delhi, February 13, 2009

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has added a feather to its cap. It is delivering on schedule— in 2009— India's first indigenously built nuclear powered submarine (SSBN) as it had promised at the beginning of the United Progressive Alliance's (UPA) term in office.

The secret of the indigenous nuclear submarine programme seems to be finally out. Defence minister A. K. Antony has confirmed what was being speculated all this while - that the country is ready to launch the third arm of its nuclear triad.

India is getting a batch of submarine launched ballistic missiles (SLBM) and submarine- launched cruise missiles (SLCM), ready to wed with the SSBNs, which would presumably be nuclear tipped. This would, in turn, underline the deterrence posture of the nuclear weapons programme providing it a failsafe 'second strike' capability.

But this would also entail fundamental change in the country's nuclear weapons policies for the peculiar nature of nuclear submarine deployment.

A nuclear submarine remains submerged underwater for most of its deployment period thus making communication difficult especially in times of a national emergency.

A nuclear submarine commander is therefore armed with a separate launch
regimen that is qualitatively different from those used above ground.

Hence, when India launches its nuclear submarine, reportedly three, it would have to put in place launch codes that would provide a degree of autonomy to the commanders. This, in turn, would change the deployment pattern of at least a portion of the country's nuclear forces to 'ready arsenal'. This would require a political decision.

The Indian development is important in terms of the changing Chinese deployment by which they are modernising their nuclear submarine fleet, putting into waters the refurbished Xia class and a new Jin class.

The country had been working on the submarine, coyly termed Advanced Technology Vehicle (ATV) since 1985. The design is reportedly based on the old Charlie II- class submarine - a former Soviet make.

The programme was bedevilled with problems in developing a reactor suitable for the platform and then, building a containment vessel for the reactor. The attack submarine design is said to have a 4,000- ton displacement and a single- shaft, home- built nuclear power plant.

The estimated speed of the vessel is 12- 15 knots on surface, and 30- 34 knots submerged.

The reactor is of the pressurised water variety.

The nuclear submarine would beef up the country's presence in the Indian Ocean.

It brings to fruition a programme that was kicked off under the leadership of the late Rajiv Gandhi who had leased a Charlie- class nuclear submarine that was renamed in 1988 as INS Chakra.

NEW DELHI, Feb 12: India’s project to construct three nuclear-powered submarines at a southern India naval base is near completion, officials said on Thursday.“Things are in the final stage now,” A.K. Antony, India’s defence minister, told reporters in Bangalore. “There were bottlenecks earlier, but they are over now,” a defence spokesman quoted him as saying during an air show.

The project is part of a $2.9 billion plan to build five submarines, delayed for years due to technical problems. “All that is behind us and we are on course to complete the project in a few months and go for trials,” a defence spokesman said in New Delhi.

India’s Defence Research and Development Organisation is also working on submarine-launched ballistic missiles, which would be fitted into the new submarines, officials added.

The country has plans to lease nuclear-powered submarines from Russia.

India is looking to spend more than $30 billion over the next five years to modernise its largely Soviet-era arms and is also trying to strengthen its navy by introducing new weapons systems.

The country already has fighter aircraft and missiles capable of carrying nuclear warheads.

India is also speeding up a separate $1 billion domestic weapons development programme to modernise its armed forces, following renewed tensions with Pakistan over the attacks in Mumbai last November.

The plans include inducting 124 tanks for the Indian army by December, the first of a batch of locally-made combat aircraft for the navy also by the end of the year, and unmanned aerial vehicles to boost border surveillance.

SATELLITE: India’s air force will have its own dedicated satellite by mid-2010, enabling precise strikes against targets like terrorist training camps, Air Chief Marshal Fali Major said on Thursday.

“We will have our own satellite functioning by the middle of next year to enhance our surveillance and capability in this turbulent region,” Major told reporters at the biennial Aero India international air show in Bangalore.

The satellite would provide images for the Indian Air Force’s integrated air command and control system being set up this year.

“The command and control system will have sophisticated radars and sensors to enable us to conduct operations with high flexibility,” Major said.

Asked what role the IAF would have in the event of an assault against militant training camps, Major stressed the importance of accurate air strikes in support of special forces on the ground.

“In a surgical strike you take your target down in a manner where it is rendered unusable while not affecting surrounding areas at the same time,” Major said.—Agencies
