• Narendra Modi on Wednesday became a part of Time Magazain's 100 most influential people, and the little write up that summed up Modi's life and achievement was written none other than President of the United States Barack Obama.
  
  While the bonhomie between the two leaders has been evident every time they meet, this write-up about Modi by Obama comes as something unexpected. Praising the PM, Obama called him 'India’s reformer-in-chief'.
  
  And the Time article was being widely shared on social media, Prime Minister Narendra Modi wasn't too late in sharing it on his own Twitter feed, where he also thanked President Obama.

  Within a short time of taking over as India's prime minister, Modi's meteoric rise from a young tea seller to the occupier of 7, Race Court Road in New Delhi, has become an awe-inspiring tale that even the US president could not miss. In addition to that, by dint of his personality, Modi has built good relations with several world leaders and Obama is one of them.

  In less than a year since Modi came to power, both leaders have visited each other's countries and publicly shown the comfort and chemistry they share with each other.
  
  PM Modi's visit to the US last year was a diplomatic achievement as hardly any other Indian prime minister left such an impact. Be it his speech at the Madison Square or his joint ride with President Obama to the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. memorial in New York, PM Modi's visit to the US signaled a new level of engagement in India-US bilateral ties.
  
  
  PM Modi also stunned the country when he dramatically announced on Twitter that the US president would be the chief guest at the Republic Day celebrations this year. No US president had ever been a part of India's Republic Day before , but President Obama along with First Lady Michelle Obama did fly down from the Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland to watch India's military and cultural regalia on display on Delhi's Rajpath.
  
  The US president believed that India would usher into a new era under PM Modi's dynamic leadership.
  
  "... he’s laid out an ambitious vision to reduce extreme poverty, improve education, empower women and girls and unleash India’s true economic potential while confronting climate change," the US president said.
  
  Modi's effort to keep in direct touch with citizens through social media and his keen desire to enhance digital activity among Indians also did not escape Obama's mind and received a thumbs up from the US president.
  
  Admiring the mission they have jointly embarked upon to protect the uniqueness of their respective countries, President Obama said how PM Modi endeavours to make the one billion Indians "an inspiring model for the world".
  
  Obama also made sure to mention the strength of diversity both countries share.
  
  "We reflected on the teachings of King and Gandhi and how the diversity of backgrounds and faiths in our countries is a strength we have to protect. Prime Minister Modi recognizes that more than 1 billion Indians living and succeeding together can be an inspiring model for the world."
