India’s phonemakers cry foul on Chinese rivals

In my home town, a tier-2 city, senior citizens do not have to pay for bus ride or park admissions.
Ya I know. HK also got this old age allowance, do you have it in your home town. I think Singapore don't have much social welfare. Must work hard here. Only consolation is we got quite good housing here.

Years ago, Nokia invested in a major assembly facility in India, and yet no component ecosystem was developed around it. What does that say about India?

Nokia and Motorola both had their factory in India when they were the Global No 1 and No 2 respectively. Their failure to adapt to new challenges, most importantly smartphones and Dual sim mobiles led to their decline all around the world. Nokia SEZ with all its ancillary industries are also closed with the closing of Nokia.

However the ancillary industries failed to gain new clients other than the Nokia ones, resulting in their closure too.

So you are telling me that India was unable to even build a supplier ecosystem around low-tech non-smart phones?

LOL micromax & Intex are "assembled in india" & not "made in India. I'd buy Xiaomi over micromax any day.

The government also learned their lesson when an India made flag broke during ceremony due to strong wind. Now they use made in China flags only.

This is not the first time. They have installed a mammoth Pole & flag on Pak/India boarder which gets thrashed by winds every other day & they gets to replace it very often. They installed the biggest pole & flag just to "embrace" Pakistanis on the other side of the boarder because they can see it from their side but it turned out to be an Entertainment for Pakistanis. Who wouldn't likes to see the biggest Tricolour getting thrashed by the winds so often & the Bharatis have to replace it with poor nation's money. Talk about spitting on it's own face in blind hatred towards Pakistan.

With the popularity of lower end and cheaper smart phones in India, there isn't much money to be made at the moment. The upside is brand establishment and maybe mAke money later when the average Indian is better off.

even when the domestic phone makers had over 50% market share, they were essentially all Chinese but with their own rebranding````the difference is now those Chinese suppliers want to sell by themselves. India has no technology, no sophisticated supply chain, no comptent design and R&D houses, its bound to happen. We were in similar situation 20 years ago```
I like your comment, it's the bitter truth, Chinese smart phones are selling like anything because of its quality and cost effectiveness. Not a single Indian company can come close to China in smart phone production.
If Indian companies cannot develop competitive products then I think they deserve to fail.

Bus conductors becomes Therapists sometimes in India. :partay:
you do realize that the chinese you schmoose upto is mostly making fun of conditions of the sub-continent and not just India

. . . .
Non-A/C bus in India where it is easily 40+ degree??? :o:
And they are hairy too. Lol....

I thought there was a boycott of Chinese goods in India. I guess the Indians are just too cheap and too poor to boycott. And of course, Indians are experts at empty talk. Indians are 'like this only'.

As 'Boycott Chinese Products' Gains Momentum, Chinese Media Says India Can Only 'Bark'

Penny wise, pound foolish.
The boycott is in the trash as we speak.

The boycott is in the trash as we speak.

The Chinese know Indians better than Indians know themselves. The Chinese were right: Indians can only bark.
