India's oil imports from Iran jumped sharply in 2014

. .
Well, Iran did agree to make a deal with America over their nuclear program.

CD we both are the real customers of Iranian oil.We imported oil from Iran even if there was harden sanction against Iran.China and India both cuts their consumption slightly for a short time due to immense pressure from US.

But in here we will agree with you.We dont need to care about US demands.

@yavar @SOHEIL @haman10 Brothers we can see a huge importing of Iranian oil in coming years .

Yes.

But the question is, if Iran was going to make a deal with America anyway, then what was the point of all the sanctions?

Might as well make the deal at the beginning, rather than suffering for ages and then making the deal anyway.

IF they wanted to make a point about standing up to America, then they should have carried through.

Simple
Common Sense is not so common
On Topic India along with China has demonstrated their capability of being reliable partners & more importantly reliable customers of Iranian Oil & Gas

US is a Superpower. They will try to intimidate other nations for their own purpose. If the victim has resources like oil or gas then there is no doubt they will
try to destroy them.

And Iran is proud independent Islamic Republic they dont sacrifice their national honour and interests for some foreign power.
So like any other nation they stood up against US when they tried to intimidate them.

Now US is in a full of diplomatic mess due to ISIS and Ukraine .They cant afford another warfront with Iran.So they winded up their threat tactics.

Iran also has some advantage. Whatever it nation like India and China cant afford a military action against Iran .Because our energy security is depend upon Iran .
Our Mangalore refinery can only works with Iranian hydrocarbon.

Well, Russia made a choice to take Crimea in 2014, like China made a choice to take Scarborough shoal in 2012 (despite the Philippines having a mutual defense treaty with America).

When you make a big choice like that, you need to be able to follow it through.

they took Crimea but it is causing a great deal of problems for Russians isnt it? Their economy is tanking and Ruble is crashing. Although Russia is an ally I think they should try to solve the problem before it gets out of hand.

Well, that's the point.

They made the choice to accept the suffering, in return for their "holy land" (Crimea).

And they are not going to suddenly turn around and give back Crimea, they made a choice to accept the suffering in return for Crimea and they are following through.

If they give up now, they will get the worst of both worlds, economic pain AND the loss of Crimea. That would be a lose-lose situation. Might as well ride out the storm, that way at least they will get one of the two.

Then I would ask why did you start negotiating with Americans back 70s?
10 years ago American were saying Iran should not have even one single centrifuge let alone a nuclear program by 20000 centrifuges and planning to instal more but now they have accepted our right to enrich and sanctions (base on deal) will be lifted while we enrich uranium.

Because we had a bigger enemy at that time, the Soviet Union. Something we had in common with America.

But we didn't destroy our economy, just to give in at the end. We didn't have to give up anything, we only gained.

And by the way, China still buys the majority of Iranian oil, just like we did during US sanctions.

We & for that matter, the Russians are involved in the negotiation because of we are members of the UN Security Council. So no choice. Be glad that we are on your side. On the other hand, both China & Russia were accused of helping your country in the nuclear program... I think you get the picture.

And in many cases you have used Iran nuclear program as trump card in your negotiations with west, you have never vetoed any sanctions against us and betrayed us any time you desired.

You gave up any chance of having nuclear weapons, and thus any chance of repelling an American invasion.

That's a bad position to be in.

And in many cases you have used Iran nuclear program as trump card in your negotiations with west, you have never vetoed any sanctions against us and betrayed us any time you desired.

If you hate us so much, then you can stop selling us oil anytime.

We buy around 50% of Iranian oil, I'd love to see who else would be willing (or even able) to buy that much from Iran.

Saudi is currently waging a price war in terms of oil, they say they want to push it down to $20 a barrel. And given their enormous currency reserves (by far the largest of any major oil producer), they can definitely do it, and sustain it for years.
