I am with you on this mate. Either the AFSPA has to go or it must be implemented wherever there is trouble. But you too need to make an important distinction. The Maoists aren't looking for secession from the Union of India, while the likes of KLO, NSCN, ULFA etc are basically secessionist rebels.

The saffron mundu is enormously popular in Uttara Kannada as well. Has become ubiquitous all over the coastal-Malnad belt I guess.

I agree that Ne rebels are separatist outfits. Maybe in 1990s strict laws were needed to supress separatist movement, but after loosing support from local population those groups have died down. I think its about time the act should go.

Excuse me dada,(forgive me if I am wrong..I have forgotten a lot of the assamese I learnt as a kid from my nannies and caring staff.)I don't need "guidance" from mainlanders about NE particularly my people and our lands.

Reasons being suppression and domination indeed. Without protest, dharna, aandolan we have not got anything since indepence. We have to shed our young ones blood to Sarkari bullet to get our voices heard. NE is so rich with natural resources yet govt, comapnies like Oil India, Ongc, Coal India etc takes everything from our soil, makes tenn thousand crores of profit each year, yet doesnt spend 1% of it in CSR activities in NE rigion. Insteed money flows to other areas of north india.
Even central govt put emphasis on development of NE state whole heartedly the separatist movement wouldnt hv occured.
If you dont believe me, spend some time studying various books about why Ulfa, Nscn etc were formed it will be a eye opener for you.
I suggest you buy Monuram Gogoi's "Mautam".
You can also study life of Iron Sharmila.

The biggest mistake was taking up the arms , it should not have happened. ULFA was the biggest mistake , they pushed us back by atleast 3 decades . without them we could have been the gujrat of east. countless youth lost their lives because of this mayhem of last decades.

The issue of NSCN is completely different though . They have problem with the idea of India itself, although during the final moments of Phizo , he conceded that continued fighting was not in interest of naga people and solution must be found under the framework of Indian constitution, sadly nobody listened to him. I m hopeful naga issue will be settled soon , personally don`t have any objection against greater nagalim as another state within the union, what is your veiw?

Look, I am a Hindutvavadi because I learnt about all the wrong the govt has done throughout these years. I used to be one of the sheeples who believed everything the MSM wrote not all that long ago.
