yeah isnt it great.
welcome to chief of army................god help you to sustain pressure from the ministery of defence.
( i believe he will survive.............due to free whiskey that will be available)
Govt wanted to kill the suspence, I dont see it unusual. This has nothing to do with current chief.May 31, Isn't it a personal insult to current Chief, Damn! He had 3 full months to go, they should have waited a month or two inspite of pangs of any political masterstroke by godfathers of Gen Bikram!
The eastern commander becoming army Chief, any subtle/underlying messages?

current Army boss is pretty popular in lower n middle ring of officers in army ,,, but top core hates him as he has put a total stop on back hand dealings of famous trio of corrupt top core officers + govt + foreign military cos ...
so i guess General Singh might be one of the top guys in corrupt core ranks ... and may be being sikh will make him little tender when taking orders of corruption re runs from top sikh in india..
The current COAS is retiring when he was originally meant to, nothing new here.

Don't, just don't.
New Recruit
New Delhi: The government on Saturday named Eastern Army commander Lt Gen Bikram Singh as the next Indian Army Chief.
The announcement comes after months of the row over the date of birth of incumbent Gen VK Singh.
Lt Gen Bikram Singh currently heads the Army's eastern command and will take the top post on May 31 when Gen VK Singh will be retiring from service.

vk singh always opposed corruption in army and he made efforts for it too.He has always been a sore in the eyes of the political class which earn from corruption.now look at the various army deals which are yet to be completed.
I cant post the article which exposed the whole game behind it..it was from retired general .
Game is much more than age row and singh knows it too.
This present gen is govt stooge and now you will see how deals are going to be completed in army one by one
Kindly refrain from making such silly comments. They amount to defaming a general who has given nearly 40 years of his life to the nation. The COAS designate is the senior most Army Commander and the senior most Army Commander becomes the Chief. We do not have political appointees heading our Army, even though in the past, there were attempts to tinker with the system. The present system is entirely seniority based leaving no scope for favouritism, nepotism and subjectivity. The outgoing Chief is one of the best Chiefs we have had and the new incumbent is an excellent officer and very capable general.
The problem is that the Indian media is perhaps the most ignorant media in the world as far as military matters is concerned. The date of birth controversy has given these ignorant correspondents the excuse to let their imaginations run wild on the basis of selective leaks, inuendoes and half truths from various vested interests resulting in bizarre theories in circulation.
