India's northern most state Jammu and Kashmir said it will soon start extracting gold from the two gold deposits found at Akhnoor and Boniyarin in Kashmir Valley.
NEW DELHI(BullionStreet) : India's northern most state Jammu and Kashmir said it will soon start extracting gold from the two gold deposits found at Akhnoor and Boniyarin in Kashmir Valley.
According to state Department of Geology and Mining, the process to extract the precious metal will be started after consultations with experts in this field.
Jammu and Kashmir last week announced the findings of gold and zinc deposits at Akhnoor in Jammu district and Boniyar of Baramullah district.
Iron ore deposits has also been found in Bhaderwah belt of Doda district and Sopore belt of Barmalla district, the department said.
The department has carried drilling of 369.20 m during 2011-12 in Jammu and 564.23 Meters in Kashmir valley and has fixed a target of drilling of 1000 m for the year 2011-12 up to March this year.
The Geology and Mining Department of the state in collaboration with the Geological Survey of India also conducted a survey in the Dastgam area of Kargil after receiving reports of gold ore in that belt.
