India’s internet user base to hit 402 million, second-highest in the world: IAMAI - Times of India

DELHI: The number of internet users in India is expected to reach 402 million by December 2015, registering a growth of 49% over last year, says a report by industry body IAMAI.

About 306 million of these will access internet from their mobile devices, up from 276 million in October this year, according to the report by Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) and IMRB.

"While internet in India took more than a decade to move from 10 million to 100 million and 3 years from 100 to 200 million, it took only a year to move from 300 to 400 million users. Clearly, internet is mainstream in India today," the report said.

This number is expected to further surge to 462 million by June next year as more people come online, especially through their mobile devices.

The total internet user base stood at over 300 million in December last year, which grew to 375 million by October this year.
"Currently, India has the third largest internet user base in the world but it is estimated that by December, India will overtake the US (as the second-largest base). China currently leads with more than 600 million internet users," it said.

The report said mobile internet user base in urban India has grown 65% over last year to reach 197 million, while the rural user base surged 99% to 80 million by October this year.

This is expected to grow to 219 million (urban) and 87 million (rural), respectively.

It also found that of all the internet non-users surveyed in the 35 cities as part of this study, 11.4 million said they are willing to access the internet in the next one year with over two-thirds intending to do so through mobile phones.
Info is outdated as India is already with 350 million internet users greater than population of US.

Why does Lord Vishnu look so Caucasian? Do Indians not like their Dravidian phenotype? ;p

But you do have to agree there's a certain bias towards Caucasian looks in everything we (and that includes us Bangladeshis) do. And this is reflected mostly in arts and animations, where we have control over the characters' appearance! ;p

Lord Vishnu, or any of the trimurti are not directly observable by Earthly human eyes unless a viswaroop Darshan is given to the observer. Even then the descriptions given in the Smriti texts are from 3rd party and not direct....so open to interpretation etc.

The Avatars themselves would have looked quite human, with symbolic nuances (skin tone). Thats why Rama was slightly bluish....and Krishna was quite dark....even black (in fact his name means the Black one). That's why Krishna has many depictions of skin tone.....ranging from blue to dark blue to black.

For example in Udaipur palace:

RadhaKrishnaUdaipur.JPG

You have yet again illustrated your utter ignorance of Hinduism with you bringing in racial and supposed "Caucasoid" or whatever remarks about our Gods....who are above Race, Creed, Colour and other human constructs/perceptions.

Not to mention your ridiculous assertion that all Indians are of the Dravidian phenotype.

I would watch it if I were you and tread carefully from now on. I will take it up with the mods if you keep persisting in trying to denigrate our belief system. Take it as a friendly warning....religion is already a sensitive topic for this forum.....no one is asking you to watch or read our religious interpretations and open your mouth just to make your stupid and wrong comments.....since someone living in a glass house really should not be chucking stones at others.

@Maira La for her, Dravidian is nationality.
Just because she has a Punjabi look, she is dreaming that as a national sign of beauty.
How funny. :P
what would she said if Bangladesh was today part of pak? :D
Look lady, India has many provinces like Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, Maharashtra , U.P. , Assam and they have their own style and looks.
pakistanis have Punjabi looks because western pakistan was derived from Punjab.

Pretty Good, better than what I have here in the states. Just curious, Is this limited service or unlimited? How much do you have to pay for this speed? Is this common speed in China?

What kind service do you have here if I my ask?

. . .
limit??The only limit is The limited speed,in recent 2 years many people in Wuhan get 50-100M,my classmates have changed to 50-100M,it is cheap. There are many companys selling and the price...I ask my mom today...What I said before was false, only 110$ per year...

Not 200$

Less than $10 a month for unlimited 100 Mbps? That is really inexpensive, lucky you! It is much more expensive here. How about 4G data, is it expensive?

Ahh ok.. I was just curious :) I'm a Comcast Xfinity customer too.

I am on two-year contract, so I don't know how much they are going to charge me next year when contract expires. Wish we could have something like 100 mbps for 10 bucks a month. :partay:

I recently started a two contract for their triple play services. First year price is very good, the second year it will jump up by $25

Regarding the speed portion of the service. I'm getting 150mbps but most of the time speed test very close to 200mbps. Very happy with the service.

When your your contract expires, you can always (in a nice way) tell them you want to cancel your service and their retentions department will most likely offer you a sweet deal to stay :D
