India’s internet user base to hit 402 million, second-highest in the world: IAMAI

Yeah go back to post 39 you seem to have some trouble, explained in simple terms. if you still dont understand then perhaps move on.

You seem to be angry, take it easy, I just want to find out the substance of this 402 million. OK, so the guy is considered an internet user even he has never used Internet. I got it. Thanks.

:o: Where do you live? Somewhere near PMO??
I still remember having an bsnl broadband connection when i was in class 12th. They used to give unlimited internet with 512kbps speed for rs 750 back then. I did make full use of it by going fully HD for everything if you know what I mean.:azn:
Chennai,
Actually PMO's connection is slower according to this article :P
Internet speed in PMO is 34Mbps: Report : News, News - India Today

These speeds are fairly common here in many urban areas in south India and coverage is expanding.

512 and HD....never worked out for me, constant buffering too annoying, it was only low quality pixelated stuff :P

I recently saw a post in facebook that some isp called electra net or something are providing 100mbps at 1699 unlimited !!!
if its true than its time to move back to delhi :D

I use bsnl broadband...landline with free unlimited calls to any network from 9pm to 8am + unlimited upto80gb 2mbps for 900 bucks!! :D
First where do you stay mate?
Dude in my homestate Guwahati.. we still have sh!t bsnl connection at 1000rs /month, free calls from 9-8 and 2mpbs speed till 5gb.. WTF.. seriously 5gb??
NE states are so much neglected that in this area specially.. if bsnl wishes they can provide decent speed but nooooo like bangalore and otehr states.. as they are the only sole ISP so gives a flycking Duck !!.. i am still clueless as to why not a single private isp like reliance and airtel are their in NE states ...

I know 3/4 Indian access internet through their smartphones, but the other report done by Ericsson said 52% Indians internet users are "un-networked", meaning they don't use any social media, or barely use internet, much higher than global average of 18%.

You are right. A lot are older gens do not know how to use the internet or apps. But for India and the world, the difference didn't arrive with internet. It arrived in the form of wireless communication. Ie the ability to communicate via talk or text, internet wireless so you could be in a remote village in Africa or Asia. Call up a buddy, and get information from him, or tell him to send you shipment of whatever. You can imagine the difference compared to the 80;s when 1 house had phone for a block. People lined up outside to get important messages across.
So while communication over Internet 2.0/3.0 is important, it need not be all that makes a difference. Wireless was the game changer and still is.

This post makes a lot of sense. The real development on the ground is what matters. The number could be superficial and deceiving.

Per capita Internet connection; India sucks.
Even smaller countries score more.

Given India's uncontrolled population growth, they should be top in everything that involves numbers, lol. :D

Indian population growth is at 1.2% per annum and decreasing. Its fertility rate is at 2.3 - 2.5 (depending on source) and is going to reach 2.1 (replacement level) probably within this decade.

Far from uncontrolled like 90% of Islamic and/or African countries.

I would worry about your extremely densely populated swamp-country being submerged before trying to pass any sort of remark about India. Maybe take some paddle boats and create a sea-highway of immigrants to South East Asia (like you have already started?)....because we certainly aren't going to let you lot in when theres nowhere left to live in the delta.

One doubt. I use 4 datacards for internet( Separate for my laptop, tab and mobile)
So am I counted as 4 internet users?

3000 per month

.
Yup beam fiber optic, I went from a 2mbps (1.6 in reality) 40 gb fup, to 75 mbps 125 gb plan, then last month the same plan was upgraded to a 100 mbps 200 gb plan. I was like :dance3::woot:
Thats awesome dude. with great power comes great responsibility. So how do you waste bandwidth ? watch movies or download ********? Max i hit in bsnl is 4mpbs(if connection succeeds) and have to pay a hefty fee for that.
