If your problem is domestic and persistent then it is structural and that cannot be the reason for a decline in GDP. You may boost your GDP by addressing those issues. I was referring to the contagion spread by the sluggish global economy that has not recovered since 2008. I highly doubt the fall can be attributed to the cooked up numbers. So that remains an issue as well.

If you consider, how much IT work USA has outsourced to India to build up India as a bulwark against China, you will realise the above is just for PR. If the Americans were really serious about protecting and growing their economy, then the flow of middle-class white collar worker jobs to India would be a point of focus and they would look to stop that flow.
