If my memory is not wrong, 8123 USD is Chinese 2015 data.
In the same period, India was 1606 USD.

And. Is this thread related to China?

As for the sensationalist headlines dismissing an industrialized country like France that's eons ahead in terms of development in all facets to India, Just another jingoistic narration by the well known Indian media that sans any sense of reality, Just like Bollywood Indian media thrive on the escapism of it's masses
You seems to miss few things though. India like any other under-development economy is a patch-work. You have many-many portions of India which could give Singapore a run for its money and you have even larger number of portions which could give sub-sharan Africa a run for its money in a very different dimension.

Consider this : https://www.hurunindia.net/hurun-global-rich-list-2018

India has third number of billionaire. Thats about 2.5 times of what France has. And India added 31 billionaires since last year and France only 1. BTW, almost all of these Nouveau Riche are self-made and not inherited. I know almost all the push back we get from the western liberals is on the lines "India has too many poors! India has too much economic divide! India cannot provide basic amenity to it people!".

All of these bleeding heart liberals don't understand one thing, this socialistic thinking only works if you have a small population where all resources can be tightly controlled. It does not work at a scale at which India and China have populations. Because management of resources at that scale is simply not centrally possible. Infact, this was one of the early realizations of Deng-Xiaoping: "Let some people get rich first!".

So yes, france was eons ahead of India but the speed at which India is now growing will outpace France. That said there will be two Indias within the country. One rich successful and one abjectly poor. There will be a middle class but it will grow slowly as uptake of education increases among really poors. But isn't that the fate of almost all the developing and industrializing nations?

The biggest problem is that most people don't have vision to understand problems of scale and even less to understand path and progression. The way liberal west or even australia operates will fail abjectly if you apply to likes of India and China with the scale of people they have.

Even China is slowing to less than 6% growth rate from 2022 as per IMF latest figure, Only India is growing >7% in coming years

I don't believe these GDP projections until the real numbers are given. Last year, IMF projected China to grow 6.5 and India to grow 7.2. The actual results were 6.9 for China and 6.5 for India in 2017, so I'll wait until the year is over.

Ideally, we should have high per capita income too.
But this a is a good development nonetheless. It makes the government richer, and increases the capacity to undertake mega projects.

BTW, poor folk in villages have a pretty good life, where they are contended with their backward customs.
The only significant issue would be the violence/crime/deaths due to extreme poverty.

Are you thick or something. Productivity is just one variable. Your gross looks dazzling until you look at your freakin population numbers. Your about to hit 1.4 billion people. At that number even retards could outdo smaller countries. Trust me India is the last country I am jealous of. Ugly people, dirty, shite flying everywhere, no sanitary manners, filthy hell multiplied 1.4 billion times is stuff of dystopian nightmare.

You've posted your picture several times. You really what to call others ugly? As old as you are, you act like a 18 year old internet troll.

Agree... projections go upside down due to policy change... specially in democracies...

Afghanistan's total GDP is equal to Iceland a country of 300000 and one of the top 5 most developed countries. So does that mean anything? Majority of India doesn't look different to Somalia/Chad/Mozambique.

india has a long way to go to match Sub-Sahara Africa in terms of inclusive growth.

i was just surfing online...all the people who are talking about statistics here....
the gdp of just maharashtra state is higher than pakistan....
In area pakistan is 2.5 times bigger than maharashtra
and in population pakistan is twice of maharashtra....

now talk about gdp per captia.
with less than half population of pakistan , maharashtra has almost 1.5 times gdp that of pak.

No offence to both the countries...
both need development and better politicians to rule....
Higher lower whatever
