What is India's export is what we are talking of, not the consumption.
India is consuming lot of solar panels, but the shiploads are arriving from China.
This is the crux of the matter.

It's all because of stupid import duties. Exports from India are slapped with 14% import duty whereas it's zero for Bangladesh. That's why India sells so much of raw material to Bangladesh instead of using it itself.

That's because payscale in bangladesh is lower then India...

BD and Pak get preferential treatment in the US and EU because they are low income countries, so no import duties. Countries like India have to pay import duties.

Only an idiot will be happy trashing its own country. Granted they did better, our portfolio is more diverse and we have not focused so much on textile/garment sector. We have started focusing now and growing in that industry as well. Bangladesh has worked hard and achieved what they have, just because they are small does not mean that cannot be better.
