India’s first Hypersonic Technology Demonstrator Vehicle being tested

China also tested this,so whats so special about this?

The difference lies between laboratory test and field test。

India is years from conducting a field test。It needs to have in place the requisite wind tunnel first。

We already have Hypersonic missile in our arsenal flying at Mach 7.5 since a long time. We have lab tested Mach 6.5 speed hypersonic vehicle with Scremjet engine in our lab. It is ready. We are developing material to protect avionics. Soon as it readies, we shall test it.

Material for thermal insulation shouldn't be a problem since India has been developing many RVs for its IRBMs and ICBMs which has terminal velocity in excess of mach 20+.

son. it is a ballistic missile... learn the difference.

Precisely, some indian decide to BS and edit the shaurya ballistic missile in wiki and claimed it as hypersonic missile.

Dude its a cruise missile. It never leaves the atmosphere and can correct its course midway, which makes it an ideal cruise missile.

Then it cannot be hypersonic or it either be ballistic missile.

Shaurya | Missile ThreatMissile Threat

It is a ballistic missile. Not some hypersonic control cruise missile claimed by Indians.

The Shaurya missile is a short-range, ground-launched, solid propellant ballistic missile. It has a length of 10.3 m, a body diameter of 0.8/0.75 m (first/second stage), and a launch weight of 5,500 to 6,500 kg. It carries a 500 to 800 kg warhead with 17 kT nuclear option, or submunitions. The Shaurya is guided by a ring laser gyroscope and accelerometer. The maximum range is estimated to be 700 km, with later variants reaching a 1,000 km. The accuracy is 20 to 30 m CEP.

The first flight test occurred in 2004. In September 2011, a silo launch was reported and it is believed to have been successful. The missile will likely enter into service in 2014, possibly in 2013. 1

Yeah right,a ballistic missile that doesn't follow a ballistic trajectory at the first place!!What a nice logic!!

And if I'm not mistaken, the Chinese system also uses an IRBM to push it to the edge of space and then it glidescdown. So in theory, your system too is a ballistic missile I suppose.

the guy mentioned about the ballistic missile ONLY, please read hi post again and you asked the proof of BM. I gave you. Over and Out!

Then it cannot be hypersonic.

It is Indeed Hypersonic, powered by a solid-fuel, air-independent engine. Its solid-fuel, two-stage rocket accelerates the missile to six times the speed of sound before it reaches an altitude of 40 kilometers (125,000 feet), after which it levels out and cruises towards the target.

According Dr Saraswat, the then scientific advisor to the Defense Minister has claimed this missile to be a hybrid propulsion missile.Like a ballistic missile, it is powered by solid fuel. And, like a cruise missile, it can guide itself right up to the target.

No, its hypersonic glider which can change its course dramatically unlike a trajectory ballistic warhead with control fins .

Most ballistic missile is hypersonic. The thing is Indian try to BS and paint a ballistic missile as hypersonic glider/vehicle.
