India's first fully indigenous Anti-Airfield Bomb tested

Could be, but why specialize in Anti-Airfield ? AFAIK a SPICE 250 like weapon can be used for this role simply changing warhead.

As I said it could be a guidance issue or the fact that India needs replacement for this in particular

http://www.ndtv.com/article/india/i...t-s-important-637116?pfrom=home-lateststories

It could be part of a glide bomb family like SPICE with specialized warhead.

Video above will show the difference between Spice 250 and SAAW. Rest assured a SDB equivalent on the same platform should be in works, for eg Nag & Helina.

Economy is the real foundation of a nation .
One decade ago we couldnt see this level of weapons development .Now we have economy ,so it is pretty easy.
Within one decade India will have a vibrant MIC.

Even more so India is opening up the sector, finally, to outside investment and supporting India's private firms. There's going to a lot more content coming out with the induction of the private firms into the sector.

even the United States of America, the only other country in the process of developing these kind of precision-guided glide bombs has failed to successfully test the same.

These Small Diameter Bombs (SDB) with a weight of 110 kgs being developed by US were though scheduled to enter production about two years back, could not be kicked off despite two different companies being entrusted with the development in two different phases.

The US SDB has been in service since 2006:disagree: and have been used in Syria - dropped by an F-22:

Got this from another member from BR.

There seems to be a whole line of new guided bombs.

GPS/INS Guidance and Control Kit and Glide Fin Kit for 450 kg HSLD Bomb
Ground mechanical adaptation trials of the kit with Jaguar Darin-II were conducted successfully.
Using avionics and seeker for PG kit for 450 kg High Speed Low Drag (HSLD) aircraft bomb, captive
trials have been successfully completed at ITR. The seeker locked-on and tracked the target during the
captive flight.

New Family of Munitions
Under this project, seven types of munitions have been designed and developed by DRDO, viz.,
Nipun, Vibhav, Vishal, Parth, Prachand, Ulka and Abha to improve the existing munitions and enhance
its performance. User-assisted technical trials (UATT) for NIPUN have been successfully completed.
Trials with 15 sets of prototypes of Vibhav have been successfully completed. Explosive train trials with
actual fuze components of Vibhav have been successfully completed.

Get your damn facts straight!!!

Defence journalists in India are the epitome of stupidity & incompetence. I suggest you move past that.

There seem to be a lot of these glide bombs in development. Even IAF's new R&D wing is producing some. One is already testing with Sus.

Another 100km glide bomb being worked on within the AF itself.

Thank You very much for your information. This may be a wrong reporting or he wants to say something which he could not explicitly stated.

Ulka variants are in active service in CT ops Kashmir for GP 25/30 series UBGL.

Can't say about its Hand grenade variant.

This one being mentioned isnt para dropped like Durandal.

From the look of it, Pak Hafr is nothing more than Chinese Type 200A anti runway bomb
