AESA radars are one area where Indian industry as a whole has come a long way and in fact in certain categories of radars--notably the ground based radars, Indian design capability closely trails the west. In other domains though, like the fighter borne radars, a lot needs to be done particularly in the software domain. Adaptive beamforming is another arena gaining traction among LRDE folks. What is also worth mentioning is the fact that the TRMMs are not only being indigenously produced but also indigineously designed as the patents lie with LRDE. The creation of intellectual property within the country for such a high level of technology is really a great thing. What is also worth taking note is the recent surge in activity in almost all types of radars, LRDE is working in almost all categories of AESA radars right from small range(<200kms) mobile radars like Ashwin to medium range(<400kms) radars like arudhra to now high power radars(~800+kms). Drawing analogies with Pakistan, their research efforts in radars mirrors what India's own radar related R&D was in 80s! In terms of true design capability and creation of intellectual rights in this type of radars, they need to do a hell lot more to be just in the game. But given the nature of their economy and their R&D culture in general they seem to have fallen back to Chinese AESA radars.

@Viet we should broaden cooperation on this sector.

Instead of wasting time applying and waiting for a patent wasting the public money they should produce the real deal first and let the world know they have developed a new technology but Indians are Indians and Indians have to show first to hide their inferiority complex.

I suggest you go through the whole thread rather than just the first post on the first page posted on 2010, and then leave a snarky riposte and run away.

The current progress.

Unfortunately creation of intellectual property is an unknown term to most Pakistanis here on this form, non resident and resident alike.
Rich coming from Indians who are world renowned for publishing substandard research papers in fake journals to get an admission abroad.
