The lady is right. And same logic can be applied to Pakistanis when we hate USA, but we want to live there. Our ex-prime minister was saying blah blah against western countries, but on the other hand borrowing from the same sources was in full swing.

Pakistani americans and Pakistani Canadians tend to be much more educated and wealthier compared to British Pakistanis. Both countries have extremally tough immigration processes so only the doctors, engineers, professors, professionals, etc. get to come to America/Canada. On the other hand in Britain you get the average Pakistani from the pind who tend to be less educated and from a lower socio-economic background. That's the reason Pakistanis don't have a great reputation in the UK but in America a lot of Pakistanis are very influential and high in the socio-economic ladder.

That is fast changing as the younger generation of Pakistanis try to do better in education. The difference in GCSE pass rates for Pakistanis compared to white english people is now only 0.6% less. In the mid-1990s it used to be over 20% lower than white english people:

In the 2022 to 2023 school year, pupils from the Chinese ethnic group were the most likely out of all ethnic groups to get a grade 4 or above in GCSE English and maths (88.6%).

I didn't say that everyone comes back. I said most immigrants come back. Same goes for any nationality.

Those who work in Middle East I believe many come back as those are lower wage workers and Middle East countries have strict regulation on immigration, let alone from India, but those Indian university students who studied in Western countries who then work in Western countries in majority dont come back.

The number of Indian who studied in Western universities are huge.

I hope one day you get to visit the UK. British Pakistani here have a lot of money - even our taxi drivers earn a lot.

They just don't like paying tax, so they earn cash and spend cash.

It is changing you know. Young people have figured out how to work the tax system like the goray do. They don't hide cash anymore.

Of course I agree that our North American community is wealthier and more educated - you guys came from middle class or upper class. Our forefathers were substinence farmers.

There are still unsuccessful people in our community, but few and far between.

I went to school with 18 other Pakistani boys - this is 20+ years ago.

5 of them have their own businesses and are all very successful, one is a definite millionaire.
6 are highly paid professionals.
3 of them work as blue collar workers. One of these guys worked 3 jobs and has a very expensive house. The other has bought an apartment in Turkey as well as his own home in the UK.
1 I have no contact with.
1 is unemployed and suffers from mental health issues.
Today 2 of them are drug addicts, lost to the world.
