What are the views of Indians on this? Mine were mixed in the sense that I felt sorry for them after all the work they had done trying to get to AUS, but then you are throwing yourselves at the Aussies and hoping for the best.
The changes that have come in have also happened in NZ, and stem from the fear of skilled labour which brings about large numbers of migrants to settle there.

I think the silver lining in this is that India will benefit far more from having its best brains stay. Pakistan had suffered years of this until the giving of a visa to a Pakistani national became fraught with difficulties.

The world is changing everywhere. Indians are under the illusion that they are somehow a favorite honey of the West. Business is business. It is good as long it is profitable and beneficial. Once it is not, policies change.

I know how Indians like to flip flop on issues, but they should call a spade a spade here. Their claims about receiving preferential treatment have really amounted to nothing. Countries are going to get stricter in issuing visas etc. Indian nationals are not going to get any special favors. It is just the way it is.

Waz bhai, it's not that they have closed their doors for all. Its just rebranding the same visa. Ok some occupations are removed (they even had occupation for a judge on the list before lol) and english bar has been raised. It has more impact on the Chinese immigrants than Indians. The best and even better brains are still eligible for the visa. The 457 visa(employer sponsored) that they are scrapping has more impact on the Indian companies. Good thing is that we can expect more jobs for immigrants(on pr visas) and AU citizens. The video is just an exaggeration.

Right Bhai I saw an article on The Hindu about this and how very skilled professionals with a high English benchmark are fine. How long have you been out there? Or are you an AUS national?

austrailia, uk, usa and even Singapore have realised local residents are being almost forced out by a huge influx of cheap skilled immigrants there just making it thougher for the sake of their own country.

when donald trump banned muslims tech firms were essentially backing protests against the ban as it would mean less chance on changing the h1-b visa. now that he has pulled the plug there worried they have to hire local more expensive employers.

I moved in January this year with a PR visa. You are right about english requirements. The Chinese for instance, used to bypass english tests if they did a small investment here. Not anymore.

Fact is skilled ppl will always find employment any where.
Second when countries or companies stop immigration or adding new employees it means they are not growing. They are not innovating , simply put they are stagnating. It also shows that ppl from 3rd world countries are getting on par with developed countries skill wise at a lesser cost which is actually good for business ppl.

I plan to stay, it's tougher for me here than in India, but would be easier for my kids. They won't have to keep running to keep up with the competition that we have in India.

Thats the problem how do you know who will innovate and who will not. So this becomes a probability if you get 1000 ppl one might innovate. Larger the size better the chance. Think of hiring ppl for a company, they are all hired on the same standards theoretically but does the company have rockstars in all the positions ? So company decides to increase the odds by hiring more better ppl.

Now there is another issue, always hire a candidate even if he is marginal bcos you dont want to lose him to competition.

Not really. There isn't a strong IT sector in Canada . plus Canada is strict when it comes to education. We don't take Indian university grads as equivalent. We don't accept Indian experience. We are accepting people with money, not skills as much. Indian PhD is equivalent to our highschool grad. No offense to Indians
