Yes thats right..the CBUs attracts 110% of tax and homologation charges...the CKUs may get relaxation of Engine size too..it will also make our Jags and LR cheaper as their all models comes as CBU

That is so bad because it will stop the flow of investment of billions of dollar into India as well as tech transfer as all of the major automobile manufacturers are rushing India for Investment but this move will stop them.

As they can manufacture their cars in their existing plants else where and sell their cars in India at cheaper prices.

as long as your gov gives full backing to your car industry, then this should be good for consumers as well as your car industry. because this competition will force indian car industry to make extra efforts to produce better and cheaper cars.

There's not heavy demand for cars priced above 20 lakhs, but huge demand for fuel efficient sub 5 lakhs cars, and i don't think they'll import them as CBU here. So they'll continue to invest in that sector to tap that sector.

Manufacturing costs in India is far lower than European countries.

There's no competition in the budget car segment, after the price slash the European automobile biggies will fight among themselves to gain maximum market share. And the consumers will be winners at the end of the fight.
