What's new

Indians being brainwashed into believing Pakistan is the enemy: Naseeruddin Shah

Hell No ; No offence taken at all

It is VERY important and very good to know what he thinks and feels

Such statements only RE ENFORCE the underlying truths and facts
What underlying truths and facts ? That he wants to expand his market in Pakistan and that he took a calculated gamble that the Indian audience would keep watching his movies whatever he said? Well he is right isn't he, Indians will continue to watch his movies and maybe a few more Pakistanis will too ....

Lecturing about human rights = Facism ... :o:

I meant to say that the ones who comment most on human right conditions in Pakistan are the ones who have openly defended torture and murder here. I have talked to some of them on PDF, I know how they work.

.
Than what should you call a country which runs terrorist camp in their country to destabilize Nasaruddin shah's country?
Nasaruddin shah doesn't have to face terrorist bullets on the border, seeing that he lives life comfortably in Mumbai in his air conditioned mansion. So I don't agree with his 'brainwashing' comment. People in India are really pissed off at the proxy war being conducted from across. But that's all about geopolitics.

However, I would hasten to add that I agree with Shah when he talks very positively about the people of Pakistan (apart from extremists that are present in every society). I had a wonderful time at Lahore during my last visit. Heck, the Pakistanis treat you as honored guests! It's just like partying in India! :-)

What underlying truths and facts ?

That he loves Pakistan much more than India

That in his mind and understanding
Indians are brainwashed ; Pakistanis are NICE

That he wants to expand his market in Pakistan and that he took a calculated gamble that the Indian audience would keep watching his movies whatever he said? Well he is right isn't he, Indians will continue to watch his movies and maybe a few more Pakistanis will too ....

He is an OLD Man ; his statement is just going to be ignored

There will be NO protests and demonstrations like it happened
with SHAH Rukh Khan ; who was asking for Pakistani players in IPL

That Old man has a film coming up
Any adverse publicity will only benefit him

But the MESSAGE sent out by Naseeruddin shah has been heard loud and clear

.
Yeah but the hindu right wing is in govt. in India and has the support of majority of Indian hindus
Really? Yet it is this right wing government that made special arrangements for the Haj and recently paid ransom for a Xian missionary in Afghanistan....and it is the non terrorist supporting Pakistanis who were found digging tunnels under the international border.

He doesn't love Pakistan more than India, he loves money more than India.....and so does Madam Soniaji and her group of 40 thieves.

They were duly punished for that and thrown out of BJP till they apologised

He was doing OFFICIAL DUTY

Therefore he EXPRESSED his DISGUST that Kashmiri separatists were at that function

Will Naseeruddin Shah even say sorry for his words or rather MODIFY his statement

Because that would DISPLEASE his BELOVED Friends from Pakistan
Ok, please sack Naseeruddin Shah from BJP. He deserves it.

hmmm. everyone knew hurriyat people were going to attend the party,, only Gen Singh did not know.

Do you know BJP leader Shatrughna Sinha was so ga ga about Gen. Zia and enjoyed his personal hospitality? Has he apologised to the nation or is it only for the muslims to prove?

I am talking about the general pattern that hindus in India are heading in
You can cherry pick examples but their is no doubt about the direction of Indian society
I don't know where the tunnel thing came up but call me when the Pakistani public elects one of them to the highest office of the state

I am glad you understand the general pattern that India is headed in better than us.
Call me when you have a free and fair election

Ofcourse that is the only thing preventing Islamists from winning an election here

The Hindutva radicals that you see here are still a minority in India and will remain a minority forever. we also have Islamic radicals and they both feed each other for their survival. Its good that they vent out on internet and get to hear the otherside.

Other than the brainwashing comment, this is a old line used by quite a few people of a certain generation. Former NSA Shivshankar Menon made an important remark recently. When asked about the prospects of peace with Pakistan, he said something that has almost never been said by anyone holding or having held a high office in India. He said bluntly that there was no constituency in India pushing for friendship with Pakistan which he pointed that in a democracy, politicians will have to factor in. He said that other than a few Punjabis, no one really was interested in Pakistan anymore. Quite an extraordinary statement coming from one one of India's top diplomats.

The reactions to Naseeruddin Shah's comments stem from the changed mindset in India. Especially, post 26/11. Hostilty towards the Pakistani state is pretty widespread. Absolutely no market in India for such wishy-washy comments.

I appreciate your concern for my country
It's our country & we decide in which way we should steer our country. And i'm pretty sure we are heading in the right direction unlike our western neighbors. It's clear from our current growth rate ,our diplomatic initiatives , our infrastructural push, and finally from a really progressive government & the intend they show to move forward.

Many thanks for weighing in and bringing the thread back to sanity

Vested Interests had badly derailed it

Coming to your point ; therein lies the irony

If Indian DIplomats and the political class has given up on Pakistan
which constituency does Naseerudin Shah belongs to
so much so that he has to call an entire country as BRAINWASHED

And I dont believe that Other Filmstars might also start pandering to Pakistan
purely on commercial considerations

There is a political context to this statement that being ; Muslim aversion for Modi
And There is also STRONG religious sub- text to Mr Naseeruddin Shah's statement

Now the question remains How many of his own co religionists believe in him

This statement might escape wider scrutiny but it is Much WORSE than
what Mr Mani Shankar aiyar has been espousing so far
