The Indian team of Deepika Kumari, Laishram Bombayla Devi and Rimil Buruily won the gold medal in the women’s recurve team event at the Archery World Cup Stage 3 in Medellin, Colombia.

This is the first World Cup team gold for India since Shanghai 2011.

The Indian trio, who were seeded second in the tournament, defeated top-seeded and London Olympics silver-medallist Chinese team by 201-186.

The match started in the worst possible way for China with a miss, followed by few disastrous scores of 6,5,6 and 7. Indian team also started with few bad shots but because of the miss from the Chinese team in their first arrow, the Indian trio secured a healthy lead of 45-33 after one end.

Meanwhile, the Indian men’s team of Rajat Chauhan, Sandeep Kumar and Ratan Singh Khuraijam clinched the bronze medal in the men’s compound team event by defeating hosts Colombia 215-210.

This is good, after bullets, arrows do the job best.

India has started getting more and more medals in the last few years!

Its becoming quite clear that its a trendline.

You made the country proud girls..

Congratulations and wish them all the luck for their future events.

AFAIK, on a side note, India should look at picking talents in archery from tribal community, as it is embedded deep in their cultures.

I believe Chineese are the best in the world ...and to win against them is a great achievement....keep it up girls.

Congratulations to the Indian team ......
