ISLAMABAD: A Pakistani doctor has done a successful weight loss Bariatric surgery on 37-year old Maali Saasan, an Indian citizen in Pakistan.

Sources told media that Maali Saasan had come to Pakistan after a failed attempt in Mumbai, India.

She said that she had lost only 15 kg in her first surgery whereas Dr Maaz has removed more fat from her body as she had 150 kg weight which came down to 80kg.

Dr Maaz has set a remarkable example which is a good initiative to strengthen the image of Pakistan across the world, doctors said.

Good job done by the doctors but I guess it is just a routine procedure for Pakistani doctors. We should always help our neighbours.

Could not agree more. The amount of help and assistance rendered to needy patients by Pakistani doctors is humbling. It is matchless. Soon there will be a long queue of patients seeking 'medical emergency' visas to go and visit Pakistan.

Thanks for acknowledging it positively. However, a queue would be dangerous because we don't have ample facilities though a few will of course be accommodated.

Doesn't matter, Sir; let them learn the virtues of patience, and that good things must be striven for. Above all, a queue is a useful socialising experience; it will do our constantly impatient people, never willing to give way to someone who has been waiting patiently for hours earlier, the training and discipline that we so sorely lack at the moment.

Good will gestures aside, am i the only one who thinks that this drastic weight loss in such a short time span can't be healthy?

Indians like to brag that only Pakistanis are going there for medical treatment...... Nice to know that it's s two way street.

Not only that, the strategic selection of treatment has to be admired.

Actually the news contained is intriguing. Normally in this kind of thing, the procedure reduces the size of the stomach and forces weight reduction by forcing a reduction in eating capacity. Real weight loss happens as a result, not immediately. For removing large quantities of accumulated fat, usually there is a completely different procedure, liposuction, and in that procedure, normally the surgeons do not remove more than 15 kgs. at a time. More is considered dangerous.

What has happened in this case? It sounds as if the two procedures have both been applied, and also that the liposuction, if it was done, was done on a drastic scale.

However, this is the beginning. When your doctors get around to treating fat-heads, let me know. I have a few patients - in fact, an entire political segment - to recommend.

@war&peace It is always heartening to promote such good news. Am grateful for your tag.

Pakistan's potential in the field is limitless, provided it get's the support and resources it needs. I am sure that if things work out well for Pakistani economy over the period of time, we may just see Pakistan being more in news for such initiatives.
