Indian test failed

lhuang, chinapakistan,

I think we should take this elsewhere, this topic seems to have hijacked this thread! :D

Look, whether lhuang is of chinese by ethnicity doesn't matter, truth is he doesn't really know the geopolitics of China (or its history for that matter), he's more like an Australian if you like -- a country that sells its commodities for a living and always stays on the sidelines. I don't think he has bad intentions for any country and just want to see a closer India-China relation in principle, which is definitely what our two countries should and will do!

I've no doubt India will be able to conduct a successful missile test, why not? India has the money and determination to do it, it's only a matter of time if you think about it. No need to be alarmed or anything!

thank you my friend for beliving in india..:)

exactly.. but army must not interfere with tthe scientific experiments..

if a customer dosent satisfied with the product he is free not to buy that product...

Indians better know seller and buyer relationships than communists :hitwall:

if a customer dosent satisfied with the product he is free not to buy that product...
If one company think like this,it will collapse soon

thank you my friend for beliving in india..:)

If anything you guys proved it for yourself, I'm just an observer, keep your economy and education going and don't get overly obsessed with military spending then your country will do great. :D

Just remember your hard work creates value whereas war destructs value, a good relation with neighbors help everybody!

Indians are not liars like pakistanies, if he is telling lie he must be a pakistani.... and thats prooved:cool:

Before someone smacks you in your laughing gear,
Best is to keep yourself tight within your Indian skin.

This is totally false info; the test was postponed partly due to logistics and weather issues. It will be conducted either on wed or sat. This is as per guys at the MOD so there should be no doubts there. Well done to all who just want to criticize the DRDO for everything. Next time wait for a couple of hours before you post something.

Nope. The test failed because apparently the target missile went off course a bit and the radar couldn't locate it. This means India is still at the very first stage of missile defense: end course intercept with known trajectory.

Have you worked at the MOD or have friends there ? do you get inside info from them on your twitter account or they text message you the results of every test. Stop trolling and commenting about things you have no idea about.

Are there interceptor missiles which can intercept terminal-stage change of trajectory missiles?

"Enemy" Prithvi Failed, Interceptor Smartly Self-Aborted, Says DRDO

Here's the statement from DRDO about today's abortive AAD test: The flight test under Programme AD was planned to be conducted on 15 Mar 2010 to demonstrate the interception of Tactical Ballistic Missile in endo-atmospheric region. As part of the mission, a target missile mimicking the incoming ballistic missile in terms of altitude and speed, was launched from ITR, Chandipur on 15 Mar 2010 at around 1010 hrs.

The target missile took off in normal way; at T+20 sec (approx) the target deviated due to some onboard system malfunction and could not maintain the intended trajectory, failing to attain the desired altitude profile. The Mission Control Centre computer found that the interception is not warranted as the deviated target did not present the incoming missile threat scenario and accordingly the system intelligently did not allow take-off of the interceptor missile for engaging the target. The cause of the target malfunction is being investigated by analysis of tele-metered data.

LiveFist - The Best of Indian Defence: "Enemy" Prithvi Failed, Interceptor Smartly Self-Aborted, Says DRDO

This is what we like call a " Logistics issue" at the MOD. So again as i had repeated earlier don’t get happy and call this a " Failure", the test will happen within a week again. Infact it shows the ability of the Indian systems to differentiate between a threat and a dud and fire its missiles accordingly.

This is what Hindu have reported...Look at the bolded part...

Interceptor missile fails to take off

The interceptor missile test on Monday, which features an attacker missile and an interceptor to kill it, ended in partial failure with the attacker Prithvi missile not reaching its required altitude and range.

The interceptor missile, therefore, did not take off from the Wheeler Island, off the coast of Orissa. The Launch Control Centre on the Wheeler Island did not deliberately give the command for the interceptor to take off as part of the built-in safeguard system, said missile technologists of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).

As per the original plan of the interceptor missile test on Monday, a modified Prithvi missile, mimicking an “enemy” ballistic missile’s trajectory, would have lifted off from the launch complex at the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Balasore on the Orissa coast. A few minutes later, an interceptor missile called Advanced Air Defence System (AAD) would have lifted off from the Wheeler Island, 60 km across the sea from the ITR, and destroyed the incoming adversarial missile in mid-flight at an altitude of 20 km. Thus, the interception was to take place in endo-atmosphere, that is, below an altitude of 50 km.

But what happened was this: The modified Prithvi missile took off from the ITR but did not reach the required altitude of 110 km. It reached an altitude of only 60 to 70 km. It also did not reach its expected range. It fell into the Bay of Bengal. The Launch Control Centre at the Wheeler Island, therefore, did not give the command for the AAD to lift off. “Some onboard item in the attacker missile could have malfunctioned. Some component could have misbehaved. We have to study the telemetry,” said DRDO missile technologists. The interceptor was not launched at all because “we cannot anticipate the velocity with which the modified Prithvi missile will come down,” they explained.

The interceptor’s launch was precluded by “built-in safeguards” in the LCC.

“Unless the attacker missile reaches a particular altitude and range, the interceptor will not take off,” they explained.

They said a team would study why the modified Prithvi missile did not reach its specified altitude. This Prithvi missile was 11 metres long and weighed five tonnes. Its diameter was one meter. It is powered by liquid propellants. The interceptor is 7.5 metres tall, weighs 1.3 tonnes and has a diameter of 0.5 metres. It has solid propellants.

The DRDO has successfully conducted three interceptor missile tests earlier in November 2006, December 2007 and March 2009 as part of its efforts to establish a Ballistic Missile Defence (BMD) shield against incoming ballistic missiles from enemy countries.

@Mods : can we please merge these thread with the below given??? I had to post the same post twice....

I said we shouldnt argue this in this thread, if you wanna argue, you should post it in the "chinese hello" thread in china sector. But I dont think it is nessesary.

This is a post you posted in other thread, and you should notice the red line, and now you are talking about you cant read Mandarin!? Oh my god, which one is true? Dont you even remember what you posted when you start to lie?

What? I SAID I CAN SPEAK IN CHINESE!! You need to learn the nuances of the English language, before pretending to speak it.

After living away from a country for close to 15 years now, you sometimes have trouble with words, especially when growing up your parents mostly spoke English with you at home to try and get you to learn the language well.

You're an asshole and atleast on this forum, I am as Chinese as you, whether you or Pakistanis like it or not.

Indians are not liars like pakistanies, if he is telling lie he must be a pakistani.... and thats prooved:cool:
Is your COAS is Indian......Because he got caught lying. When we asked question he was like....emm uhhhh emmmm

So watch your mouth.

Since Prithvi missile has tested several times. I think it is "modified" part which has some issues. Just as a side note, this modified system seems something related to missile defence.
However I am keeping my finger crossed for next test as well as more information on this failure.

Thats right. The missile is modified to simulate the flight path of Chinese M-11 missile, in its terminal phase.
M-11missiles are acquired by Pakistan in mid 90's and also Chinese have transferred to Pakistan Nuclear warhead designs suitable to mount on M10.

Some folk here don’t understand the difference between a cancelation and a failure. Many fanboys jump on the bandwagon as soon as the hear two words together "Failure" and " DRDO", without even figuring out what happened. seeing India fail seems to be their main hobby, quite sad.
