Indian students should consider studying in China

Yeah many Chinese I spoke to told me they will return home once they complete their studies.

China has more and more opportunities for them. HOw about indian oveaseas students? are they willing to go back to india or just stay in the west?

Thats because for a large part of our history parents wanted their children to be doctors ,engineers and now mba.........simply because of better job prospects. Here the first tier[read the brightest] goes into engineering, medical professions. This has to a lot with economic condition of the people. With improvement in standard of living arts and humanities too will come to fore. Thats wat i think.

Here, I could not stop myself from admiring the Chinese government. They are doing a great job in developing a balanced and quality education system for its citizens. Arts and Humanities are as important as if not more than engineering and business in a nation’s development. Another area where Indians are falling behind China is in pure Sciences. Pure science is the backbone for areas such as innovation and engineering.

The race to number one position in Asia is reserved for that country that has the best education system. Indians need to do lot more.

Sometimes I am wondering whether owning a company like Intel is better than owning a company like Louis Vuitton?

Many I know would like to stay in UK, simple factor is better pay and prospects but now things are getting tough even in England.
However some Indians whos father have businesses back home will go back and work for their family.

India have many world class institutions and they are doing good service for their country another reality is Indian culture don't accept China, Indians want to look like western people they follow their style, their language their movies.

True.

another reality is Indian culture don't accept China, Indians want to look like western people they follow their style, their language their movies.

No that's not true at all. You will be surprised to know that Indians are there in 180 countries in the world only 3 countries don't have Indians.

And that's a official figure by Govt. unofficial figure is anyone's guess.

Most Indian students don't go for PhD's. Indians go for either MBA or MS in engineering.

That's a problem. That means Indian students are more suited for lower level innovation at existing companies doing tweeking of existing technology to make it cheaper and better, but not suitable for high level research that can turn out completely new, game changing ideas like quantum computing, nanoacoustics, targetted drug delivery, etc.

It seems that you have a degree in trolling good attempts but i would like to see more leverage in your attempts....try harder

Could be true in china DTr or something, can make out from the kind of posts these guys make.

:cheesy: man you crack me up:rofl: cheaper and crappy is the sole mantra of our northern neighbour.

Indian dont like china as a country or neighbour under its communist rule...second, Indians dont consider chinese as innovative or something like that....so definately people would not like to go to that part of the world to learn how to produce blue collar slaves or how to copy something....take a break guys..so much blah blah blah about china...

Not sure about China but as a Indian studying Engineering in Hong Kong, communication is the biggest hurdle.Even though the medium of instruction is English some professors and most of your classmates speak Cantonese. It's the biggest problem when you are doing a group projects or presentations.Business schools of most Hong Kong universities are more internationalized with foreign staff and lot of foreign students.

P.S : Heard engineering is the least preferred proffesion in HK.

I'm not insulting India. That's the job of BS and MS level engineers: take existing technology and make small tweeks. Leave the real, risky innovation to PhDs which China produces in abudance both at home and abroad.

That is, in deed, a very good strategy.

The number of PhDs are increasing, but the pace is very very slow. India needs to "re-invent" it's education system, which at best is not upto the global standards.
