Indian students should consider studying in China

India always claims that it is a fair and democratic country, but fairness in education among all people is a very important part of human rights, cause that can decide an individual's future life.if you can not find fairness in education.you are in no position to talk about human rights.

Dude...,what are you even talking about?!

Even if Chinese colleges are pretty good very few Indian students are going to go there. It is because of the mentality that only the US and UK provides the best education.I don't see things changing anytime soon.

I took a look at the QS individual subject ranking, and here's a couple of things I found.
1) Chinese universities are among the best in Asia in arts and humanities. In fact PKU is the only Asian university with a top 150 history department (it's ranked 19). Mainland China also made a strong showing in Philosophy with 4 universities in top 150. Only three other Asian universities made it into top 150 on the Philosophy ranking were from Taiwan, Hong Kong and Singapore. Chinese universities also perform well in social sciences except political sciences, for obvious reasons.
2) India universities seems to focus too much on engineering discipline. For a country with such strong cultural heritage, I think it's highly regrettable Indian universities are mostly absent from the arts and humanities lists.

I totally agree with you. In India, apart from Engineering and Business Schools, there is a serve lack of quality schools in arts and humanities, and China is out performing India by leaps and bounds in this area.

I agree as well. India is seriously lacking quality schools of culture/arts/humanities.

soon Chinese universities will have the best facilities in the world, the government invests big in univercities.all universities put up futuristic teaching and faculty buildings, stadiums ...like crazy.

Best buildings does not mean getting the best teachers, that's why so many Chinese come to England for their studies

Thats because for a large part of our history parents wanted their children to be doctors ,engineers and now mba.........simply because of better job prospects. Here the first tier[read the brightest] goes into engineering, medical professions. This has to a lot with economic condition of the people. With improvement in standard of living arts and humanities too will come to fore. Thats wat i think.

that's true, hardware is no thing, software is another.China should spend more money in attracting world renowned professors, like what we did in getting foreign soccer players and coaches.

Stuying in england is not a bad thing I think. More and more overseas chinese students come back to china for career developemt now. I think this trend is very improtant for chine because they can dring a lot of advanced technologies, ideas and management skilled to china.

China has the capital to do it I can't see it being a problem in attracting the world's best teachers if they get same sort of salary as in the west.

Even though Indians are exposed to western culture a lot, students find it difficult to make the transition. Now China, we know absolutely nothing about. Even the Chinese food in India, is a lot different from the original. It will be a brutal culture shock. A place like Singapore is infinitely better, with at least some Indians around.

Mainland should learn from HongKong. see how fast HK universities are rising in recent years. More and more Mainland students choose HK university, HK Chinese university and HK S&T University rather than PKU and THU.
