Indian Prime Minister's Upcoming Visit

Strategic depth anyone?

What an irony, the reason behind the inception of ULFA was their xenophobic attitude towards Bengalis in general and Bengali Muslims in particular in Assam whom they considered as Bangladeshish! You lot need to wake up and smell the coffee, try to develop your country, dont try be an irritant towards a regional power which surrounds you from almost all sides! You guys cant even afford to replicate a Pakistan, economically Pakistan was a better position than India in early 90s.

Have a friend of mine, her family migrated from Assam. Quite a good girl and her family has great admiration for this land. Contrary to what some of you portray I havent seen them as hostile when I've met Assamese in Dhaka(the opposite do happens at times).. The problem is with Indias stance at state sanctioned riots that ignites hot heads in ethnic doomsday.

Ulfa members even requested our GOV to identify their struggle on par with our freedom movement. Saying we would be the one to understand.

Personally speaking people over here are not at all interested in Assam or what happens there, they dont speak our language anyways. But gossips regarding their security at times do come up in coffee tables.

Just as Thakre gang dont make all Marathis chauvinists, ULFA also dont make all Assamese anti-Bangladeshi. ULFA saying BD that they will understand is ironical, as they were not very fond of Bangladeshis at the initial stage of their struggle. It's another thing to have respect for your land and culture and to see you encroaching into their land, the respect wanes away!

What would India gain from riots in Assam?

.
^^ Well we don't read the Indian version of scrolls over here, do we. ULFA was formed on the context of unfair development in respect to natural resources they possess. Nothing to do with BD. Assamese really hated the Indian Army although as it seems they developed quite well in the llast few years and hope that remains.
We don't want a hostile land beside us either.

What would India gain from riots in Assam?

Who knows? Blind nationalism maybe. But in the end people from the hills
are quite easy to makes fools upon. Indians take advantage of it, wont
deny of the fact that similar stuffs had been tried by our military in past,
albeit in a mere scale but its cool now.
