A more detailed response from yours truly.

As much as i root for peace and the need to let go of the hatred, i still can't see Pakistan and India as brothers or even friends. I have seen the cultures of Indians, and as a Pakistani Punjabi, i will speak with regards to Indian Punjabis. The majority of the culture Indian Punjab portrays itself as is majorly Sikh Punjabi cultures (which is still different from Pakistani Punjab). Although the language and roots of the culture are similar, whenever i see something Indian Punjabi, things may seem similar but something is terribly different at the same time. I can't put it into words, but it's almost off-putting in a way. Forget about Other Indians, the so-called most same to Pakistanis i.e the Indian Punjabis have given me this feeling. I feel more closer to Pakistani Pashtuns, Sindhis, Balochis etc etc than i do to Indian Punjabis. Perhaps it's the decades of intermingling and common culture that has made things this way, and this rift is only going to grow as time moves on.

As another member has already pointed out, our cores are different, and it is these cores that has been clashing with one another. Too much bad blood has developed between the two nations and it's too late for this Mantra now. The British may have sown these seeds of hatred during the British raj, but the reason this flame took its spread is because this sort of sentiment was already present within the Hindus albeit dormant. It took its new heights under them, and the current India only proves the concerns of our leaders 70 years ago. Pakistanis are no where near as hateful as the Indians i have come across. The constant belittling of our sentiments and culture, dehumanization of us and our religion, the power plays of ego , and trying to mesh the " All Pakistanis are Indians are the same people" agenda down our throats (while at the same time you guys majorly appropriate the cores of our culture and History in your country as Indian culture and History) isn't going to lead you far with Pakistanis. Indians have a bad habit of being ignorant and biased towards Pakistanis and i haven't even gone into what your Media and Leaders say about us. How can you think Pakistanis and Indians are going to be friends when there is terrific Islamophobia and dehumanization of Pakistanis in your society?

India had the chance to develop cultural ties with Pakistanis through our actors working in your entertainment Industry (which could've later on happened with Indian actors working in the Pakistani entertainment Industry and vice versa as a sign of Good will) (even though i don't really like Bollywood it would've still been a sign) But look at how your people and leaders did with that? Or even with cricket matches, they've managed to politicize those into Pakistan-bashing things too. Indians only feel the need to represent themselves as superior to Pakistanis while they suffer from a Inferiority complex of sorts, and this really shows with how the general Indian public treats Pakistanis as. The hatred you're seeing from Pakistanis now was long time in the making and is purely reactional to all the Hatred and ignorance we've been receiving from the Indians. Pakistan and India cannot be friendly countries unless you're prepared to re root your history and sentiments from the ground up.
