yogeshwar next bout is with a Russian & he is world championship gold medalist in 2011 :hitwall:

Sushil kumar said indian wrestlers were given tough opponents at very first.... He said he will win Gold medal but he felt sad because most indian wrestler been knocked out because they were facing gold medalist or silver medalist. While other country wrestlers were given a easy opponents.... He confused why it happened.... By the way Yogesh defeated Silver medalist. Now he will face Gold medalist. Am glad that there is no diamond medal or else yogesh would had given diamond medalist after defeating gold medalist.... by the way i dont think yogesh can win. He alot unlucky he got tough opponents.... We should teach england cricket team a very good lession when they enter india.... Dont keep much hope that yogesh would win.... Russian wrestler really top class.... But am hoping for a bronze though....

yogeshwar qualifies for repechage round........but he will be up against 2011 world championship silver medalist :hitwall::hitwall:

As i predicted in my above post.... Yogesh lost to world champion.... i really doubt we can get a gold medal even when sushil kumar the champion.... Everything is against him.... By the way we did far best specially when cry baby the brit pm was against india.... Still we kicked him and earned 4 medals. Hats off to india. We did well.

sushil is not weak contender.... we should support his confidence ....

what is repecharge, he won it... what next ...can any one tell me..

what is repecharge, he won it... what next ...can any one tell me..

If you get lost in initial rounds and the one who beat you win gold, you get a chance to contend for bronze, that is repechage.

Now Yogeshwar need to win 2 more matches to claim bronze.

London Olympics 2012: Wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt wins 60kg freestyle repechage round 1

India's Yogeshwar Dutt defeated Puerto Rico's Franklin Gomez Matos in the repechage round 1 of the 60kg wrestling competition of the London Olympics on Saturday.

The win kept alive his hopes of a bronze medal. This was his third bout of the day in which he won two and lost one. First, he beat Bulgaria's Anatolie llarionovitch Guidea in the qualification, but ended up losing to Russia's Besik Kudukhov in the pre-quarterfinals.

But, Dutt's Olympic medal hopes were rekindled as he qualified for the repechage round of the men's 60kg wrestling event after Russian Besik Kudukhov, who had defeated the Indian in the pre-quarterfinal.

But it will still be a long road ahead for the Indian before he gets into the bronze medal match.

The 30-year-old Indian will be facing Franklin Gomez Matos of Puerto Rico in the first repechage round.

If Yogeshwar wins, he will face Iranian Masoud Esmaeilpoorjouybari in the second repechage round for a place in the bronze medal match against North Korean Jong Myong Ri.

Yogeshwar must thank World Champion Kudukhov for keeping alive his bronze medal hope.

The Russian, bronze medallist at the 2008 Beijing Games, won his quarter-final match 3-1 against Esmaeilpoorjouybari and semi-final 3-0 against Myong Ri to qualify for the final. Kudukhov will face Azerbaijan's Toghrul Asgarov in the title clash.

Yogeshwar had lost his pre-quarterfinal bout to Kudukhov. The Indian survived just two periods before losing 3-0 to the reigning World Champion, who was also a bronze medallist at the 2008 Beijing Games.

Yogeshwar lost the first period 1-0 and the second 2-0. The Indian's medal hopes now depend on the Russian.

Yogeshwar qualified for the pre-quarterfinal, beating Bulgarian Anatolie Ilarionovitch Guidea in the first round.

The Indian made a brilliant comeback after losing the first period to win the bout 3-1.

Guidea won the first period 1-0 but Yogeshwar did well in the second period, bagging it 2-0. Yogeshwar completely dominated the third and the final period to win it 5-2.
