Indian Newspaper Flies With MMRCA Ditch Story, Journalist Disowns

Defense Minister Celso Amorim explained the reasons for the choice during a press conference on Wednesday: "The choice took into account performance, technology transfer and cost, not only for acquisition but also for maintenance. The decision was based on the best balance of those factors." And while Dassault Aviation SA (EPA:AM), the maker of the Rafale, mourns its losses and Brazilian senators get over the shock, Brazilians took to social media to make their feelings heard.

Performance for Brazil!
ToT for Brazil!
Cost for Brazil!

But not for India and that is the key point you miss here. Brazil can't afford the Rafale anymore and had rejected the EF (most likely on cost grounds) from years ago, don't have the threat perception that India has with far more capable forces alongside our boders and the ToT offer is not the best for the Gripen in Brazil too, it just offers the most participation of Brazilian industry, since the fighter is still under development, while we have an own fighter development and need propper ToT and offsets that Saab simply can't offer.

Media / blog articles are NOT policy. What - if any - are the official responses/statements/positions?

so what ...rafale is behind F-22, point is we should have the finances . we can get the gripen at a very low cost somewhere between 6-7 Billion USD. the rest of the amount we can spend on su mki and FGFA.

The Gripen is not capable of meeting the standards set by the IAF, and besides, the F 22 is not available to the IAF.

And how do you think is Sweden going to sell us 126 fighters, with weapons package, maintenance, full ToT for -7 billion USDs?!

No way will deal be signed during his visit, it may be discussed in his visit but that's about it.

Agreed.

Don't know about that. As the IAF has said- their decision to go for the Rafale is "irreversible".

From a reliable source:-

Deal / agreement signing with Rafale might take place in september when Modi meets French President.
